Bipasha and Tanushree to play sisters

It's called cashing in on the Bong bombshell factor. Producer Raj Kanwar's forthcoming film will star Bipasha Basu and Tanushree Dutta. The actresses will play screen sisters in a romantic comedy to be directed by Vivek Sharma.

The hunt for the second leading man continues, after Viveik Oberoi was signed on last week.

Sources say that talks are on with Riteish Deshmukh to recreate the Masti magic. Says director Sharma, "Bipasha and Tanushree look so convincing together that we never spared a second thought over the casting."

Aamir Khan inspires

The plot revolves around the two sisters who are diametrically opposite to each other in thoughts and how they evolve as better human beings over the course of the story.

The conflict arises when past incidents continue to govern Kajal (Bipasha) who is overprotective about her college-going sibling Aditi (Tanushree). Aditi believes in living life king-size and wants to get a taste of everything.

She lands up in Goa for a holiday with her boyfriend Raghu, which has her doting sister follow her to ensure her well-being. In an attempt to have time to themselves, the couple hires John (Viveik), a local youth to distract Kajal. Adds the director, "The character of John is inspired from Aamir Khan's Rangeela act."

Bong bonding

Tanushree is thrilled about sharing screen space with Bipasha. "I'm looking forward to landing up on the sets and facing the camera with Bipasha. I keep hunting for Bengalis wherever I go, only for the gupshup in our mother tongue and of course the dabba, which will have ethnic cuisine.

Apart from that it's an honour to be a part of a film that has such accomplished actors. I also plan to take a tip or two from Bipasha and Viveik."

Producer Raj Kanwar points it to his penchant for trying unheard-of combinations. He says, "I have always tried experimenting with on-screen pairs. Be it Lara-Priyanka-Akshay in Andaaz or Akshay-Katrina in Hum Ko Deewane Kar Gaye, you can see the thought that goes behind it. People have already started raving about Akshay-Katrina jodi, I'm sure Bipasha and Tanushree will have an equal impact on the audience."

Banking on Viveik

Talking about comic elements the director informs that Boman Irani will have his spell as the father of the two daughters.

When quizzed about the apprehensions surrounding Viveik Oberoi after Home Delivery failing to evoke a good response Sharma says, "I don't care what the market feels about Viveik. He's a wonderful actor and a good human being. And I'm sure this film is going to be one of the biggest grosser."

The film has been getting shelved for a few months now with Ayesha Takia walking off initially, owing to a not-so-popular co-star Vatsal Seth. This made the creative team think twice and soon Vatsal Seth was out,
too. "We are planning to shoot from April. By then, everything will settle down," adds the director.
