Raashee print stolen before Friday release
"We have arrested five persons involved in the piracy racket and are investigating the case further," deputy commissioner of police (enforcement) Sheila Sail said. According to the police, the masterprint was found to be missing a few days after it was given to Adlabs. Police sources said that when Gowariker learnt about it, he immediately lodged a police complaint. The case was then taken over by the Mumbai crime branch.
"We received information that some persons would arrive near Kherwadi junction with the masterprint on Saturday. We laid a trap and arrested Afsar, Firoz and Aman from the spot. We recovered the print from them," a police official said.
The official added that, on interrogation, the three revealed that they got the print from Film City . "They claimed they had given Rs2lakh to Durgadas and his associate Ajay, who were arrested on Sunday night. The gang said they planned to make pirated CDs and DVDs of the movie, and wanted to make crores by selling them in India and abroad.
We are verifying whether Ajay was with Adlabs Processing," the official said. The police also seized pirated CDs and DVDs of the movie from the gang.All five were produced before a local court and were remanded to police custody till September 30.
