 One Tree Hill Season 7 premieres on Monday, September 14 -- get ready!So long, farewell. SHOW: One Tree Hill NOW SHOWING: Season 7 premieres Monday, September 14 at 8 p.m. AIRS: Mondays at 8 p.m., CW WHY YOU MIGHT LOVE IT: Dynamic characters with real problems played by attractive people? It's the CW. What else would you expect? WHY YOU MIGHT HATE IT: Exaggerated characters with melodramatic problems played by bad actors? It's the CW. What else would you expect? THE PREMISE: One Tree Hill is ancient in comparison to its CW counterparts (Gossip Girl, 90210) -- but the network stalwart is still going strong into its seventh season. The soap-operatic series, set in the non-existent town of Tree Hill N.C., centers around the lives of Lucas (Chad Michael Murray) and Nathan (James Lafferty), basketball-playing half-brothers who hate each other but unite under a common resentment of their father, Dan (Paul Johansson). The ladies include sexpot Brooke (Sophia Bush), free-thinking Peyton (Hilarie Burton) and fun-loving Haley (Bethany Joy Galeotti). The six-season plot has taken us through their high school experience, but has skipped over their college years and dropped us off again in the post-grad world. Over the seasons, Lucas has been involved with with Brooke, Peyton, and many others, including his book publisher, Lindsey. After years of angsty love triangles, Lucas proposes to Peyton. Nathan, on the other hand, married Haley right off the bat and went right into baby-makin'. When we last left Tree Hill, N.C. at the end of Season 6, Brooke had returned home from living in New York, Nathan and Haley had settled into their respective basketball and music careers, and Peyton and Lucas were driving off into the sunset with their new baby. Season 7 will begin one year later. WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW: Well, when we said that Peyton and Lucas drove off into the sunset together, we meant for good. Chad Michael Murray and Hilarie Burton are not returning for Season 7 -- huge news in the One Tree Hill realm. Maybe the set interaction between Murray and Sophia Bush was getting awkward -- after all, they were married for about five minutes (okay, three months from 2005-2006). Or maybe he was getting tired of shooting on location in Wilmington, N.C. Whatever the case, it's going to be interesting to see what happens in their absence. Perhaps Julian will come back and give Brooke something to do? |
