Original film in BW?

One more from me 😛😳 Just these two things came to my mind and I made topics out of it. One was the "wannabe" topic. And here is the second.

We always talk about Bollywood just copying Hollywood films or making movies out of novels. But isnt there any ORIGINAL movie? A film that was HIT but at the same time ORIGINAL. Atleast a few may be there. Lets not talk about too old movies. Like some from recent few years. 😊

I thought of Black but even it has taken its first half from Helen Keller's autobiography The Story of My Life.

I thought of many but they all came out to be copies. But one that wasnt was Ishq Vishq. It was original 😳 So Any other original movie that someone from BW forum has seen/knows? I wud like to know as well. 😃 Pls share.

haha! Yess, SIK was hit but even IDK why?? LOLL!! Ok, so lets add...HIT, ORIGINAL AND sensible :P

CDI was original? Chalo something good done by YRF. *applauds YRF* lol!!

Any other? Besides from Karan Johars. I think all his movies were original.

Was VEER-ZAARA original?

@Angelz: I think CDI was inspired from The Mighty Ducks.

And no Kjo movies are never original. He's just smarter because he does not just copy from one source. His movies are a hotpotch of everything we've seen. They are lpretty much lifted from 90s hollywood movies and 70s Bollywood movies with some obvious influences from the YRF camp.

Original Movie: I thought Lagaan and Swades were pretty original.

Ahh really smart of him 👏 And yes, I agree...quite a hot-potch. Now Stepmom is coming up and that already openly we know a remake

About Swades, what I got from Wikipedia:-- First part okayy but what do u think about the 2nd part....think its true?

Inspiration

Swades is inspired by the story of Aravinda Pillalamarri and Ravi Kuchimanchi the NRI couple who returned to India and developed the pedal power generator to light remote, off-the-grid village schools.^[2]^[3]^[4] Producer Ashutosh Gowariker spent considerable time with Aravinda and Ravi, both dedicated Association for India's Development (AID) volunteers, Gowarikar supposedly visited Bilgaon, an adivasi village in the Narmada valley, which is the back drop of the Narmada Bachao Andolan (NBA) movement. The people of Bilgaon are credited with doing 2000 person-days of shramdaan (community service) to make their village energy self-sufficient. The Bilgaon project is recognized as a model for replication by the Government of Maharashtra.

Some film critics alleged that the film is a remake of the Kannada film Chigurida Kanasu based on a novel of the same name by Shivaram Karanth. This claim was repudiated by Swades writer M G Sathya who said that he had been working on the story since the 1980s.^[5]
