LITMUS TEST: The 12 finalists who have been chosen by the viewers
With reality shows giving reel ones a tough time on the small screen, Indian audiences clearly have their loyalty divided these days. Their finger constantly on the remote and the mobile, it is the season of heroes from the neighbourhood.
And making sure it is creating the right hype this is Indian Idol Series 2, which is now down to its final 12. While the coming weeks promise to be a tough one for the contestants who will face the litmus test, bringing the voice of the "chosen ones" to Indian homes will be a special Indian idol album.
The recently launched album will also have a music video. Titled 'Indian Idol Series 2', the album has been recorded by Sony BMG Music Entertainment with Miko as the music director. The theme song of the group this time will be "Woh pehli baar" which comes with the addition of some new lyrics.
As music director and Indian Idol judge Anu Malik puts it: "These 12 finalists have been chosen by the viewers because they are the best. Indian Idol Series 2 songs are a peppy mix of old and new evergreen numbers and these budding singers have done justice to these golden melodies."
With Indian Idol growing from a musical show to a dream that every aspiring singer wants to come true, the recognition that the first idol, Abhijeet Sawant, received has clearly gone a long way in luring starry-eyed youngsters to the show.
"I am really happy for these contestants and it feels really nice to see their first album being launched. This is a proud moment for the contestants, their families and the town they belong to," said an excited choreographer-turned-filmmaker Farah Khan. -- Lakshmi B. Ghosh
