Hey arpita my name is Angela or Angie which ever one you want I answer to both and thanks for agreeing I am all for respecting our elders but when it cost us our own voice and we know they are wrong its time to stand up for oneself but what I notice most of the heriones of these shows are like that and it boggles the mind in this day and age where women should be cherished and respected (some women not all moti ben not included in this statement) these shows are showing the exact opposite and it is disturbing. I read some of the post about Santu being to blame for taking the abuse and I would have to say no I disagree she is following her culture and the way her family raised her and its hard to break habits that have been instilled into us at birth. I am just sorry we are all viewing this with our liberated minds and not really seeing past what we feel that we would have done in the same situation because believe me if I were a village girl who never been outside of my village I would probably be some what histant to speak my mind. Women have to have support in order to feel that they have the right to speak up for injustice and for a time Santu had that but for some reason it was taken away from her so now we are seeing her back to square one.
I agree with you here Angela...I think it would be very difficult for Santo to stand-up for herself against Moti and DM's kids because she is so unsure of her place in DM's life, his home and his family....her only allies in that home, Baa and Bapuji fail to protect her from the abuse...plus her upbringing must have taught her never to raise her voice against her in-laws. Only after DM acknowledges her as his wife in front of Moti and his useless kids and she is secure in that position would she be able to stand up for and defend herself.
