Shahid gets Candid on Kaminey
Kaminey has generated a lot of buzz thanks to the chart topping music and a lot of scoops about Shahid and Priyanka. With the release just around the corner here is Shahid Kapoor sharing his experience about the film.
What was your journey like in Kaminey?
Kaminey was a very difficult and a very different movie for me to do. There are a lot of things in the movie I have done for the first time.
What was tough to do, stammering or lisping?
Stammering was more difficult to get it right, because stammering is not only a speech defect but also a very psychological thing. I met a lot of doctors when I was preparing for the role, since I wanted the character to look real and not a mere caricature.
Who was more creatively satisfying for you to play? Guddu or Charlie?
Both were a challenge for me to play, to me both together form the movie Kaminey. It's the contrast between the two that makes Kaminey.
Any funny moments while shooting the movie?
Yes..! It was with Priyanka. She is very proud that she can drive scooties, so it was raining and she was like I can drive…common it is just a scooty. So there was water and the director said she's the one who's in control in the movie and just chup chap let her drive. So I sat behind her and she drove and then Dhan Te Nan…we both slipped n fell off the scooty. (Laughs)
Like any other movie, Kaminey too has roped in loads of controversies targeting you personal life…what's your take on it?
I have never spoken about my private life. It is called private because you don't share it with anyone and everyone. So that's why the media speculates and comes up with all this. I am a very private person and I don't go around all over the place showcasing the person I like.
Who do u think you share the best chemistry with onscreen?
See the chemistry between two people comes down to the role they perform. It's always the characters which work for the people not the pair. At the end of the day a person spending 150 to 200 Rs on a movie ticket wants to get entertained. The audience won't just go and spend on a movie because two people look good together. It has happened to me that I have worked with the same person and the movie does not do well but if the characters are well etched the movie works. So in the end it all comes down to the characters you play and the characters chemistry.
Lastly, were you surprised when Kaminey got an 'A' certificate from the censor board? Will you be comfortable watching it with your family too?
Yes, it was a surprise when I heard Kaminey got 'A' certificate. Personally I think there is nothing in the movie which I feel that anyone will be offensive to see. I would be comfortable watching it with my family. I feel Kaminey is a movie which everyone can enjoy.
