Do we take our Vitual Image TOO seriously?

Hello Guys and Girls,
I know my Topic may sound confusing but let me explain.....
Before I joined I-F I was chatting maniac..And unfortunately I was stalked by a virtual friend whom I trusted.. It was a hellish experience for me... Now I have learnt my lesson...And as far as my experiences go i do know that virtual and real life behaviour can be poles apart...
I have noticed this in the forum that some of us take things way too seriously.... As if this is the beginning or end of our life.... Now, Is It?? We create an Image for ourselves or are assigned one and get stuck with it....
Is it a detachment issue? Or are we trying to hide our insecurities by being some one else in the virtual world?At the end of the day we all have bigger problems in our real life, then why do we take minor issues of the forum to heart?
Lets talk about it guys- Are we taking our Virtual Image TOO seriously?

I think at some point, each one of us is much much much more confident wit their virtual image than their real image coz somewhere they kno that the other person is not watching u...jus reading ur words... so that there is a sort of temptation in everyone of us...to conveniently hide our insecurities....

for example, if v are to give a public speech, then v need to be extremely spontaneous...whereas here, if u have to write a post...u can take ur own sweet time, but when u actually post it, it is all written together right..so doesnt mater how much time u did take behind the screen ( if u can understand what I wanna say )...so in a way, yes I do believ that our virtual image maybe be a tiniest bit different from what it is in real life...atleast thats how it is for me!

frankly, fortunately..I 've never had much of a bad experinece wit ne of my virtual friends till dtae...so I dunno, or rather cant comment on whether the virtual and real images are same or poles apart... but yeah I guess most of the times they might be..coz u cannot look directly into the person's face to see whether he is real or pretending...

but I guess I m lucky that a few of my virtually friends...are my really good friends in real life too !! 😊

NO i am not obsessed with the virtual world nor do i potray myself as someone else..... i have had quite wonderful experiences to keep me grounded....

thanx for liking my post Mads... yeah i really agree on the bolded part....i believe we all take our own sweet time writting perfect posts.... which is oozing with morality... yet i think somewhere the reality does seep in.... u do get an idea what the person might be really like...thats why maintaining the Image becomes so necessary..and yes being unable to look into a person's eye is a deterrant...

no re..I did meet one guy virtually too...n he is one of my best friends today! 😊 its been three years since v met online..n we are really great friends even now..and we will continue to be, for life! 😊

never experienced these virtual frnds thing b4... i wish i will never experience.. but who know wat'll happen later

anyway cmng 2 the topic
unfortunately or fortunately IF is a very addicting place for many of us...
this is where the main problem starts... that virtual image seems like real image many a tyms bcoz we have got attached with many frndz over here

n again it's not that we take everything seriously..atleast me
i may take few things seriouly.. wat happenes with my frnds n all stuff
we sometyms forget that this is an open discuyssion forum, where everyone is free 2 express their opinions n there everything starts

n at the end of the day, i realize that i started going 2 IF for refreshing myself n 2day i'll sleeping aftr getting more stressed... this happenes wen i take things seriously
n i realized few months back that not all things should b taken seriously in such places (virtual places) n now i'm very happy

I really agree with the thing in bold.... even i had been too attached with the virtual world at a certain point of time but i now am matured enuff to handle stuffs pretty cool..... and yes even a few incidents in the I-F itself had stressed me out sometimes but I took it light and feel much better...
