well, i take it in a meaning of her achievement... so it depneds on how people percieve it, isn't it... 😊
and honestly, it's funny because some of the male actors are so much more horrible, yet people gush over how 'hot' or 'cute' they are... seems criticisms are only reserved for our female celebs... LOL...

Well said Sanam. We Indians always try to pull down women who are confident, sucessfull, polite, beautiful & have come up the hard way without any backing.

I think Deepika is over rated.

Yes, she's in the limelight a lot these days, but honestly speaking she hasnt illustrated anything extraordinary yet. Her acting skills arent to die for. She's a decent dancer, and has a pretty face..but I wouldnt say she has done anything spectacular over these past two years. I have said this before here, and I will say it again. She had an amazing debut, but more or less because of the banner she was working with AND the superstar she had by her side - SRK. Not to mention, that film was a hala gula sort of film, so it required not that much when it came down to acting. I find her being extremely lucky for being paired opposite SRK in a Farah Khan film. Enough said.

Bachna Aae Hasseno, nothing new. Very typical. Chandi Chowk to China was horrible, and it required nothing but action . I'd give her props for her action in that film, but acting? Cant say much. Now, in LAK, she did a better job than her previous films, but still not the best of acting being displayed. Too many 'glamorous' roles being done by her where she's no less than the typical stuff everyone's doing these days.

I truly believe that bollywood is one industry wear you can be termed as a 'star' for various reasons OTHER than acting. Harsh, but true. You see people like Katrina receiving the RG award, what more can you expect? She cant even talk proper Hindi for crying out loud.

I know there are billions of people who love Deepika, but I'm just one of those people who feel that when it comes to 'acting,' good looks/dancing/glam roles/ your figure/ getting hits with the help of your costars is not what makes you a 'star.' You have to prove your worth as an actor/actress by actually 'acting.' And thats where I fail to see how generally, we hype so many people up when they still have such a long way to go.

Btw, this doesnt just go for Deepika only. Its for every actor/actress thats famous for things other than what their profession actually requires them to do, and that is to 'act.'
