'Anushka', the goad held in Lord Ganesha's right hand, is used to remove obstacle from dharma's path. It is the force by which all wrongful things are repelled from us, the sharp prod which spurs the dullards onwards. It keeps our desires under control. 'Amra', the pleasing paisley designs modelled after a mango and is associated with Lord Ganesha. Mangoes are the sweetest of fruits, symbolizing auspiciousness and the happy fulfilment of legitimate worldly desires.

Is it ??? i didnt know this . Happy Ganesh Chaturthi to all . Ganesh ji was the first clone of this world .I mean Ganesh ji was a child who was cloned by Parvati

Hi sonu, seeing U on DM after so lonnng ...Yeah, Ganeshji was probably the first clone to be mentioned in our texts. later on we find eg in mahabharata. Vyas muni was a genetic engineer of sorts. He made a 100 kauravas, & later even added a female sibling on Gandharis request !!!

Qwertji: I miss Mumbaii too!!! :'( The celebrations there are just awesome! I'm really annoyed that this year I won't be attending the Ganpati Visarjan in UK. :(

Happy Ganesh Chaturthi...

I have never been to Mumbai during that time, so don't know about festivals there... They must be grand am sure though... I like our small poojas in Mauritius, but after all, nothing's like India!!... These are times when I wish I was born in India rather... ;)
