BUt then what is this figure by Taran Adarsh: The it shows that KI till now in still the top grosser while NY and LAK are nearly the same....Plus Kaminey is already at 20 crores in India.....I am confused.....:

well kaminey is not even on that list, so i don't know whether you can compare. those are also total numbers and since NY and KI have been running much longer, LAK will be considered a bigger hit.

I have been reading numbers on Box Office India. And they have different numbers.

Lovanika....you don't understand this box office reports!! That was distribution share...not the actual box office nos.!! In terms of business, LAK has done far better!!! But why are you comparing LAK and Kaminey!...It;s a totally two different movie and one should be happy that finally some films are making good business! ////

Edit: This is quite a silly discussion. Because I like both films. But I just want to make sure that the numbers people use to bolster their arguments are in fact accurate.

Ok...lets wait for few more weeks an then we will see how Kaminey fairs..but its not being a love story and an A certificate will make the difference..But then again people are surprised by its fever even though it was given A it has surpassed the expectation.....

Kaminey Heads For 27 Crore Nett First Week

Kaminey is heading for business of approx 27 crore nett in week one. The film had a huge start but collections fell on Monday and Tuesday with Wednesday being steadier. Despite the drop in collections, the film will be an easy earner for UTV who have invested 40 crore in the film. The Indian market will give 20-22 crore revenue while Overseas will be 7-8 crore therefore worldwide theatrical revenue will be in the 27-30 crore region. The remaining balance and more will be recovered by other revenue sources like Satellite, Music and Home Video.

The slight disappointment is that the film has received the best reviews over the last few years from all quarters but public response is not at the same level. This may be due to the dark theme of the film and some of the audience having the perception that it is a violent film due to the adult certificate, the name and Vishal Bhardwaj's last major film Omkara.

So they predict that Kaminey will gross 27 crores in its first week. In its 2 week run, LAK made 59.2 crores gross.

I don't know about the what if's but looks like Kaminey will be a hit.

I actually saw some 5 year olds in the audience for Kaminey. And apparently people drove outside of Mumbai to see Kaminey.
