You guys are so lucky. I wish that would happen in my school, but I know it never will - it's just not possible. I go to a staunch Catholic school, and 80% of the students believe HP is evil, and only about 5% read the books - the other 15% just don't have an opinion about it, but most are leaning towards the "HP is evil" side.
Plus, our reading list is designed by the Ministry, and they decide choosing books such as The Pearl (John Steinbeck🤢) is a good choice.
So, it just won't happen. I wish it would though, because then I would ace every Lit test that came my way. But soooo many people here are narrowminded, that even if HP did get added to the reading list by some vague chance, the minute a student bring shome the book, a flurry of phonecalls would reach the school - parents think HP is just too evil. A lot of my friends can't read HP or watch the movies even if they're interested just because their parents forbit them too.
It's a sad world😭
That's very unfair.. Harry Potter is not evil, what are they talking about?? Well, maybe the part about Voldy is a lil bit, but not that evil.. And, besides, it's not even close to evil as the real world, where there is war and people dying, people killing and everything.. Are they going to shut their children from this evil too, which is reality of our world?

Exactly, that's my point.
And whenever some 🤬 person comes and tells me that HP is evil, I ask them one simple question - "Have YOU read the books?"
And that's the main problem, isn't it? Because if you read the books, you'd UNDERSTAND - you'd understand it wasn't evil. I mean, come on, his mother died to save him! He's protected only because of LOVE. There are so many themes in HP (love, courage, loyalty etc) that flows right into many religions, and people fail to notice that and label it evil just because there's magic in the book. That seriously annoys me, because if you give it a chance, only then will you be able to understand it, right?
I remember I read somewhere (can't remember where) that a guy was listening to the radio or something, and there was a guest on preaching about HP is evil. So the guest is like, "In the books, you have characters saying 'There is no good or bad, only power, and those too weak to seek it.' If that isn't evil, I don't know what is!" But that just proves how uninformed he is - a BAD guy is saying that, for Heavens sake. And Harry's job is to defeat the bad guy. You get the point here? You can't write off a story as evil just because a bad guy says something evil - that's his job, that's what he's supposed to do, but in the end it's all about good wins over evil, right?
Wow, that was a long rant. I think I'm going to have a Discussion of The Week on this. What say? Or maybe I should just restrict it to theories...

Yes, Ami, you're right. The Devil is like Voldemort. But that's what Harry's trying to defeat - Voldemort. That's my point - he's working to defeat the devil. So he's good.
