Here's a full account from Amreena who worked both days at the carnival!
South Asian Carnival : Day 1: August 15th 2009: India's Independence Day
Meet and Greet featured Gulshan Grover, Diya Mirza, and SHAHRUKH KHAN
So, as most of you already know, I got to help out with this Meet and Greet! What exactly did I do? I helped moderate the crowds, and kinda get them on and off the stage. It seemed fairly easy. It wasn't
Gulshan Grover was up first, no one really cared too much about him And our irritating MC asked some trivia questions about him to the crowd, and whoever would get the answer right, would get bumped up to meet him. I learned alot of new things about him And...By the way..He's in My NAME IS Khan he then introduced Diya Mirza. She wore a white sari. She had tons of attitude and she was kinda demanding She looked really small though, I always thought she was taller! All the Hyderabadi Aunties and Uncles were going NUTS with her.
After her, there was a big break, it was in this break that I actually spoke with Gulshan Grover for a while. I asked him about Chicago( If he's enjoying it), some other dorky things, and I asked him a little bit about My Name is Khan, but nothing about the story as I didn't want to know THAT much. He was really sweet. It was funny, because he kept referring to himself as BAD MAN, and the Security Guards were like what's the name of the movie he says that in, we wanna watch it too
We were back from our break, and started to prepare for the insanity that was about to take place. I've never been so bribed in my life
It was a good 20-30 minutes before he arrived.
As soon as he walked in...there were roars like crazy. I'm not kidding, but my jaw dropped He looked so good! He has def lost ALOT of weight. And he still looked a little unwell. But he still looked good. He was wearing blue jeans, a white shirt, and black velvet jacket on top.
Originally, me and my 3 other coworkers were going to meet him backstage or later at the hotel, but for some reason I had this feeling like it wasn't going to happen and it was going to get rushed so, we decided we'd go during the actual meet and greet session. So we walked on stage..my friend couldn't think of anything to say to him, so she said "Hi Sir". I said "Hiiii Shahrukh!!!!! I'm a big fan (why the hell did I say that! I don't know? It sounds so boring I know) of yours ever since I can remember" He leaned in for a hug, and I TOOK it, I felt bad though, it was on the side of the surgery :(. Then we posed for the picture, he was rubbing my back with his hand Then after I told him "I wish you all the luck for My Name is Khan, I know it's gonna be awesome, and I told him to take care of himself and stay healthy " He then put his hand on my head, and said "Good Luck to you with everything you do in life and May Allah(swt) bless you with success in your future".
30 seconds later, I was fighting with that media lady in that video with Saif and Kareena But I still had a huge smile on my face
My photographer friend who was taking everyones pictures made me hold his light/battery, and I stood behind him, so i'd be in Shahrukh's view I kept smiling and waving to him. It was quite funny.
He did some cute little dances and gestures as people gave comments to him. Then all of a sudden people started getting REALLY crazy, and started pushing the barricades and it was just bad. So Shahrukh stopped for a bit. He then went on to a bigger stage where did more Q&A and of course tons of dancing. I didn't really have anything to do while that was going on, as Security had pretty much doubled by then. So we just hung out and watched him interact with the audience.
Then, right after that was over. They left for Houston, and my friends brother was on his flight

South Asian Carnival: Day 2: August 16th: Saif Ali Khan's Birthday
Meet and Greet featured Katrina Kaif, Kareena Kapoor, and SAIF ALI KHAN
I had hardly gotten any sleep from the night before, but I was hardly going to let that get in the way of me and Saif
Katrina was up first. She got a pretty awesome reaction when she walked in, she was wearing a pink Anarkali/Peshwaz type outfit, I'm forgetting who the designer was right now but she lookes very cute! She was super sweet in answering questions. Her favorite movie is Fanaa. That was news to me! I guess she loves Aamir! And she wants to work with Hrithik soon I got to stand next to her assistant the whole time, and she was making all these side comments about the people going on stage, it was pretty funny! She was very sweet though, even when some guy tried to put his arm around her...she hesitated, and i think the guy got the picture After that, she went on to the main stage and did the same thing as Shahrukh Khan did the day before.
We had a bit of a break till Saif and Kareena came, so we kinda prepped ourselves, and the security guards
Then, they started playing Love Aaj Kal songs, and I'm not kidding, I felt the ground moving. It felt a little more crazier than the day before. And haha, i think it was a bit more rowdier
Then they walked in. I had the cheesiest smile on my face..and I couldn't stop staring at Saif, my friend was like "Amreeena, get over here, and GET TO WORK"
Then Random parts of the crowd started singing Happy Birthday. I was singing on my own Anyways. Saif looked quite handsome in a light blue shirt, jean, and black vest, with some black glasses, which yes, he took off for some time, but he put them back on :P. Kareena also looked very pretty. And she didn't look too skinny or too fat, which I guess was a good thing. It was kind of funny because, some people would go up, just to see one or the other, and the other person would just stand there, I remember my friend's cousin, went up with a Kareena poster that she made, and Kareena showed the poster to Saif Anywho, again, I thought i would not be able to meet him later, so i decided to just go..and all my security peeps were like..GOOOOO!!
So I went!!!! I think I shook his hand, I can't remember, but haha, he was def looking in my eyes while I was talking to him. Here's what I said" Hi Saaaaaaaiiiif!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm Amreena, from the Love Aaj Kal group, whose name you said in the video", and he was like "Really? Wow!"
As most of you know, i had been collecting Birthday messages from Saif fans, so i put them together in a book to present him, so I had the book with me, and i said "This is from your biggest fans, all over the world, and they all wish you Happy Birthday, these are all messages for you" Again, he was like, "Really? WOW! How sweet", as I handed him the book he was SOOOOO SHOCKED! He asked if he could keep it, and I said " OF COURSE!!!!!!!! It's for you!!!! And then I kinda sang him Happy Birthday " and then Like I a dork, I asked him if I could give him a big hug And he said, "Of course sweetie" So I hugged him, and it was a TIGHT Hug, from both him and me I then mentioned to him, that the last time I was in Chicago, I got to dance with him, and he was like shocked, :lol:, I told him it was a concert, and then he looked somewhat relieved. He said it was a pleasure meeting me, and hehe, hopefully we'll meet again
I jumped off the stage and was in complete awe of the man
I went straight to Saif, so I had no idea what Kareena was doing at the time, sorry guys
Also, I was THE ONLY one he hugged
I remember somebody in the crowd accidently called Kareeena, Katrina by accident, and Saif and Kareena were laughing so much And then someone complimented Eklavya and Saif was like. Eklavya? Damn!
After a while they stopped the stage stuff, but they wanted to meet more people, so they broke down the barricades, and let them come down, and they tried to meet as many people as they could. I remember, I got tangled in between so many people then, and some guy's finger was almost up my nose
They then left for the hotel, shortly after, me and my coworkers also went!
As we came in, Katrina was leaving for the airport, So we kinda talked to her. I told her she's simply beautiful and too keep up the awesome work, and she just smiled, and thanks, it's because of us that she is where she is.
A couple minutes later Saif and Kareena came out, wearing the same clothes they did at the event, my friend, is actually friends with Kareena, so he was talking to her, and when I realized who he was talking to I said , Hello, and told her that the sari she was wearing was GORGEOUS! I asked her where it was from, I can't remember what she said, but I think it was Manish Malhotra? They then rushed out to the car, and were going out for Dinner, without security Kinda cool!
Well. That's the end of the stories. The pictures, should be tagged by tonight, then I'll be posting them
