DANCE WITH ME
The foyer was decorated in fluorescent lights and sober flyers and flowers. Everyone was dressed in serene colours of black and blue. All the cadets were involved with each other enjoying the atmosphere full of romance and magic.
In between the lit candles emerged two people who had come to the party with different intentions and mixed feelings. But as soon as their eye fell on each other, everything was forgotten. It was as if nothing else existed and the world stood still.
Her face glowed in between the candles and she looked so beautiful that he simply couldn't take his eyes off.
She lowered her eyes feeling conscious of his gaze. She wondered whether he was staring at her with awe or staring at her with amazement. Why was his gaze so piercing? Why couldn't she look away?
Both of them walked simultaneously but remained opposite not meeting each other afraid of what the whole hall of eyes would think.
They had so much to say to each other but didn't hold courage to speak up so they used the alternate and talked with their eyes and mind.
He said: "Aaj bohat khoobsurat lagrahee ho Naina."
She replied: "Thank you sir. Aap bhi bohat acche lagrahe hai aaj.
He said: "Maine aaj se pehle tumhe is roop me dekha hee nahi."
She replied: "Aaj moka jo itna khaas hai."
Gradually their feet began taking them towards each other and as they reached all eyes fell on them. It was as if everyone wanted to know what will happen next.
The music in the background changed making their heart skip a beat as this was the perfect song for them.
Ya maula aaaaaaaaaaaah
Ya maula aaaaaaaaaaaah
He put his hand out towards her to offer her a dance and she had this hesitation whether to accept it or not.
He asked her in his mind: "May I have this dance?"
She finally extended her hand and rested in his and then he pulled her closer.
Mere haath me, tera haath ho
Saari jannate mere saath ho
Mere haath me, tera haath ho
Saari jannate mere saath ho
One hand was securely clasped with hers and the other remained on her waist. Her hand rested on his shoulder.
Tu jo paas ho, phir kya yeh jahaan
Tere pyaar me hojau fanaa
Mere haath me, tera haath ho
Saari jannate mere saath ho
Tu jo paas ho, phir kya yeh jahaan
Tere pyaar me hojau fanaa
Mere haath me, tera haath ho
Saari jannate mere saath ho
Each word reflected their feelings they had developed for each other and it was as if the song was made just for them.
"Tere dil meree saaso ko panaah miljaaye
Tere ishq me meri jaan fanaa hojaaye"
Jitne paas hai, khushbu saas ke
Jitne paas hothon ke sargam
Jese saath hai, karwat yaad ke
Jese saath baahon ke sangam
Jitne paas paas khwaabon kee nazar
Utne paas tu rehna humsafar
Tu jo paas ho, phir kya yeh jahaan
Tere pyaar me hojau fanaa
Mere haath me, tera haath ho
Saari jannate mere saath ho
Their steps were beautifully co coordinated with each other and everyone else stopped to only stare at the two as they couldn't believe to have seen a more beautiful sight.
"Rone de aaj tu humko
Tu aakhen sujaanede
Baahon me lele or bhigjaane de
Hai jo seene me qaid darya
Wo chute jaaehga
Hai itna dard ke tera daaman bhigjaaehga"
Jitne paas paas, dharkhan ke hai raaz
Jitne paas boondo ke baadal
Jese saath, saath, chanda kee hai raat
Utne paas naino ke kaajal
Jitne paas paas saagar kee leher
Utne paas tu, rehna humsafar
Tu jo paas ho, phir kya yeh jahaan
Tere pyaar me hojau fanaa
Mere haath me, tera haath ho
Saari jannate mere saath ho
As the song ended they still stood in each other's arms not wanting to go. She looked in his eyes and saw he wanted to ask her something and he saw that she was ready.
"Adhuri saas thi
Dharkhan adhuri thi
Adhure hum
Magar ab chand pura hai falak pe
Or ab pure hai hum"
Right then he had no fear or care about what others would think as what mattered was only them.
The whole hall had stood still to see what will happen next as they were expecting Rajveer to make the next step. Nobody cared about the right and the wrong anymore as this was the matter of true love.
Before he could say anything she asked him a big question, "Sir, will you promise me one thing today?" he nodded waiting with anticipation as to what was she going to ask.
"Sir, aap mujhse waada karenge ke zindagee bhar aap mera saath nahi chorenge or hamesha mere mentor banke rahenge."
Rajveer thought about the right answer and then replied. "Isme koi poochne kee baat nahi Naina. Me to her waqt se tumhaare saath hee tha. Aaj me waada karta hu ke me zindagee bhar tumhaara haath thaame rakhunga." She gave him a sweet smile. "Lekin tumhe bhi ek waada karna hoga." She squinted her eyes with slight tension as to what was going to come her way. "Tumhe waada karna hoga ke tumbhi mera haath kabhi nahi chorogi or hamesha meri protge banke rahogee."
With no reaction for the first few minutes, Rajveer felt a bit dejected but then Naina burst out laughing which relieved his hyperactive heart.
"Yeh bhi koi poochne kee baat hai. Me to hamesha se aapkee hee hu sir or aapkee hee rahungi."
That was enough to satisfy both of them and now nothing more remained to be declared. It was a union of two hearts, two souls and of true, undying and eternal love.
