Yet again, it's time for Shahid's annual solo hit!

Shahid Kapur is fast becoming a brand into himself, and with huge solo hits like VIVAAH and JAB WE MET, he has left most of his contemporaries and new stars behind. Our patrons will remember that it was us who had brought out this unique facet of the star, his solo hits delivering abilities in our last year's column-Folks, Its time for Shahid's solo hit (July 12, 2008).

After back to back superhits in the form of VIVAAH (2006) and JAB WE MET (2007) and an above average earner in KISMAT KONNECTION (2008), it seems almost certain that Shahid's magic has worked once again and his latest KAMINEY (2009) is all set to emerge a hit. Yes, Vishal Bhardwaj's KAMINEY, starring Shahid Kapoor (it's a double whammy as Shahid is in a double role here!), Priyanka Chopra and Amole Gupte that released on 14th August 2009 had a fantastic start all over. Wherever the film released it saw almost a cent percent start and trade predicts an extremely profitable time ahead for KAMINEY. This despite the fact that it did not release in Bombay-Thane and Pune due to the swine flu crisis.

When we spoke to a leading trade expert, the reason he gave us was quite logical. He says ''Audience now associates Shahid with good, classy films. His name sells and his coming together with Vishal, who himself is a respected name in film circle and associated with quality films was 'sone pe suhaga.' And of course, ''Dhan Te Nan'', who can forget the magic that the song has created!''

Surely, Shahid has definitely delivered his annual solo hit. Will DIL BOLE HADIPPA be the icing on the cake? Keep watching this space for more
