Bollywood reacts to SRK detention ( 7 Images )
Bollywood is raging over the humilating treatment meted out to Shah Rukh Khan at Newark airport where he was detained for two hours, frisked and questioned. Here's a look at some responses.
Using her Twitter page, actress Priyanka Chopra said, 'It's shocking, disturbing and downright disgraceful. Such behavior fuels hatred and racism.''
Even SRK's beat friend Karan Johar posted his shock on Twitter, he said, ''shocked and upset...feeling terrible for Shah Rukh...''
Actor Irrfan Khan also faced similar hassles in the US earlier when he went there for shooting a film. He said, ''It's very surprising that they can't strengthen their own security system and we have to pay the price for that. They are a superpower, but it doesn't mean that for their own security reasons they can humiliate us. I think we should stand against this and oppose it in as strong words as possible. If it happens with Shah Rukh Khan, just think about an ordinary man.''
Director Farah Khan said, ''Shah Rukh Khan is a globally known super star and I'm shocked to know that he was detained and questioned. It's not that he has gone there for the first time. He has shot his films there earlier also and I'm surprised that it happened to him.''
Director Mahesh Bhatt said, ''I strongly oppose such incidents. It should not happen but I'm not surprised because it's not happening for the first time. What to talk about Americans, we are also discriminating against Muslims at home. Look what happened with Emraan Hashmi and Shabana Azmi. We are doing the same here.''
The only person who was on a different page altogether with respect to the Shah Rukh incident was Salman Khan who said, ''It is not such a big deal, when we go there we too have to go through the security check. There has been no attacks there since 9/11 because of their stringent security measures. I think it is a good thing (the security).''
