With Education and Advancement in information technology religion should change with the times.
Much of the texts were written way back and some of the advice given then are no practical these days.
Regilion should be broadened and made more tolerant.

Religion has to do with faith in God , belief and how you incorporate those in normal lives. Almost all religions say the same things on how to live a righteous life. (be kind, tell the truth, don't steal, don't cheat, don't kill etc etc) They don't need to modernized. Customs do need to be updated though. I really dislike how a lot of people don't know how to differentiate between cultural traditions and religion.

More than that I don't like how some adults in our society don't believe in change. Change is necessary and not always a bad thing.

Sure why not ! Constitute a world committee to review the scriptures of all the religion. Pick up what is good & relevant. Delete the rest . There we shall have our brand new world religion fully compatible with present era . One religion one world. Just build up consensus if such a thing is possible 😃

Good idea. Frankly it does not take a rocket scientist to say what is good or which parts misunderstood or obsolete in any religion.
But still we need many religions so that people have a greater choice. Variety is the spice of life.
Religion is only a guide book , so pointless to get carried away with it.

I wouldn't say the religion or religious texts needs to be changed with the progress of time, but people's perception, and interpretation of it must. Changing a religious text, for instance, isn't going to be an easy job. It wouldn't work well with the public; there would be more disputes, even wars and even bloodshed for it. Changing people's interpretation of it would be easier. Many controversial passages from religious texts have been reinterpreted, and bent to fit our new ideas regarding the world.

Also, I do not support countries which bases it legislation from religious laws - that makes zero sense to me, and I find that downright insulting to those who aren't the followers of that religion, or at least parts of that religion. Why can't a country's legislation be based on actual moral, ethical issues? Yes we will take help from the religious text (that's what the religious texts are there for), but to put everything literally into account, without even getting the proper science, logics and contexts behind what it states, is just nonsensical. That way, changing religion wouldn't be a necessity, like it is now since many countries' laws are based on religion.

The way I see it, texts are neither good nor bad; texts are just text. How you interpret it is what matters. If a person commits heinous deeds and then justify his actions saying "Because my Holy book said so", then I would be more prone to hold that person accountable for his deed than the book itself. A book is just a book. If people are brainwashed into doing amoral deeds due to the few passages of his book, then it means that the person is inherently flawed. Religion or religious text is just an excuse for them to cover up their crime - it's not the reason, it's the excuse.

Yes you are right in that.
Often parents tel the kids " God will punish you if you do such n such a thing"
Poor God gets blamed for many things and of course the movie industry helps to paint wrong images too.😆
