Sulochana's character seems so dramatic

Hallo, I am a newbie, so I hope you don't mind if I start a new topic.

I am just wondering if anyone else finds Sulochana's character to be a bit overly dramatic? All the tensions with Samdhans seems to come from her outbursts. And though she empathises with Archana, basically every monologue of hers is about how sad she herself is, how she cannot see her daughter suffer, even how Varsha staying out late reflects on her as a mom.

When Manohar came back after his thwarted suicide attempt, she scolded him for ages, and said, "You used to hand over your salary to me, and that would give me confidence to run the house." ??? So the fact that she almost lost him is not the worst? The salary is on her mind.

And then, when she is apologizing to Savita, she says don't punish Archana for my mistake. That summed up for me how I feel about Sulochana. She makes all the mistakes, and everyone else has to sit through reams of her dialogue and of course, if anyone opposes her, she will have an asthma attack.

Please excuse me, I am not flaming the actress or writing off the character. I am just wondering when her husband will say to her, "Yes, you have caused Archana's lack of education. But life happens, let's move on." I find Savita's character more entertaining.

Thanks for reading.

I think you are right to a certain extent. I feel that sometimes she gets so involved and makes the decisions herself. That's when she doesn't realize that she might be making the wrong or uninformed decision. It's true that Savita adds a funny tinge, but i feel that she takes it to far. I think she has also created problems for her family due to her longing for more money and gold in life. I think both mums have their flaws and good characteristics.

Yes, I agree. I can see that Sulochana passionately feels that she has to make Archana's dreams come true, and she can't sit back and watch people denigrate her for her lack of education.
I don't know, I just wish the show would let some of the issues speak for themselves. When the character preaches, it doesn't allow the audience to intellectually engage and connect. At least for me.
I love the show; it highlights so well the modern criteria for what is considered a good alliance, and how the traditional values might seem outdated to people focused on acquiring wealth and the trappings of a comfortable material life. At the same time, they don't simplify it by making rich people automatically bad.
I can also see that Sulochana is trying not to do the classic keeping mum thing which ladkiwale are supposed to do, while people mouth off about Archana, and in that, I respect her. She stands up for her daughter and applauds her sacrifice. Just wish they would tone down her rants a teensy bit.
