I T'S CRUNCH time for the 12 finalists of Sony's Indian Idol Series 2 as they prepare for the final battle. The gala rounds begin from Monday, when the six male finalists will unleash their potential. After three months of gruelling rounds of eliminations, the six boys who have made it so far are NC Karunya, Panna Gill, Ravi Tripathi, Sagar Arun, Sandeep Acharya and Amey Date.
Described as the "Abhishek Bachchan of Indian Idol" by many, and a popular choice with the judges, NC Karunya from Hyderabad is exercising his vocal chords and preparing to capitalise on his biggest asset — his voice. He's been basking in the glory of the instant fame that he has received since he shot into the gala rounds, with fans recognising him at malls, airports and cinemas! Smalltown boy Sandeep from Bikaner has so far had the tag of emulating Udit Narayan in his style of music and choice of songs. "I am making a conscious effort to break out of this image and the audiences," says Sandeep, who has never missed a single session of riyaaz since the show began.
Ustad Ghulam Mustafa Khan's disciple, 24-year-old Panna from Jamshedpur knows that he has gained popularity among audiences across the country because of his "X-Factor" and is determined to prove his voice as mature and well trained. When he's not enjoying the Mumbai ka khana or working out at the gym, he's training himself to be more like his ultimate Idol, Sonu Nigam. Ravi Tripathi, the eldest contestant who's made it to the galas despite Sonu's hesitation and apparent vote of no confidence has been training with guru Suresh Wadkar when he's not imparting knowledge at workshops at SNDT College. Another student of Suresh Wadkar, Amey has garnered the least audience votes, but has the backing of the judges, especially Sonu Nigam, who believes he will make it to the top three. Mumbai-based Sagar Arun Sawarkar is a second time entrant into the race, but is determined to make his mark this time! Watch the boys sizzle to impress the sexy Mallika Sherawat who is the celebrity judge for the week.Source: http://epaper.hindustantimes.com/
