And I agree that SG track, no matter how excruciatingly slow & boring at times, has far more depth than MN. In fact, they never make me cringe, unlike MN, whose scenes I am actually afraid to watch these days, incase they touch newer heights of cringeworthiness!!

Its so obvious that while the main love story blossoms slowly and steadily, MN are the mindless, senseless comic relief to make the proceedings lighter! Now a days they remind me of the silly side-kick & his equally silly girl friend frm old hindi movies whose job is to act as fillers for the most part (a la Johhny Walker or Johhny Lever). The creatives just don't have the time or energy or acumen to bring any depth to the complex characters that MN depict. So the easy way out is make them the jokers of the pack. Those few and far b/w random scenes of depth hve also vanished completely since the horrendous date!
One wud think that so many voices of concern for what has been done to MN wud get some positive results frm the required quarters. But going by the track record, am sure this eloquent post will also end up in the forum archives. Either bashed or ignored by the powers that be!

Well said, Smriti!👏......I'm literally AFRAID of watching MN these days too cuz I'm just disgusted beyond belief with how tacky they've been made into....there is NOTHING in their scenes now....It has been permanently established that Nupur is happy enough with Mayank's lame antics as "Raj" and if that is a done deal, then MN are most certainly over.....all those ppl running around the forum berating anyone who has been seeing this coming for a long time now and pointing out all the steadily increasing nonsense in this show....what answer do they have now??? Where's the big 'culmination' to all this??? Where are the ppl claiming that this was all going to lead to more 'emotional bonding' for MN??? Emotional bonding of the sort where Mayank jumps into a pool, Nupur screams out his name, he returns with a tacky locket and tackier dialogues and all is well once again in the MN 'love paradise'??😕😕😆......Then thanks, but no thanks.....THIS is not what I was jheloing this show for so long for....LOL....such an average show to begin with and the only thing motivating me to watch it is now gone for a toss.....ok then😆😆

To sum it up......Mayank and Nupur now LOOK tacky, TALK in tacky dialogues, ACT tacky and senseless and that's the end of the road in my opinion. This show should just shut shop if the creatives find it oh so burdensome to even give 2-3 dhang ke scenes to one of the so called 'lead' pairs of this show. The essence of the characters has very well been lost as Sonia has clearly explained in this post and I agree with all that she's said.

I dunno why they can't stick to Mayanks original hair and clothing style.... Arjun looks MUCH better/hotter and suited to the character of Mayank in this garb (Its in the form of a siggy, since I was a bit lazzzy to find a picture - If Anyone can find one... please do post so 😃):

Than the current one:

Though I suppose I should be thankful he doesn't have that jungle-wala hairstyle... You know the hairstyle he sported in the middle of the MN jungle track until Khuda Jaane...

And LOL I've no idea about the TRP thingy either! 😆 I mean, first off I don't think the trps are necessarily conclusive of the quality of the show... only its popularity.... So thats not relevant to the qlty of MN's scenes....

And I totally agree with the part of the painfulness... I've been a die-hard fan of MN since the beginning and to see one of my fav couple being constantly given such a low-grade scenes, plot, dialogues etc. It sucks man ... Admittedly we do get good scenes once in a while, but the ratio of bad scenes for every good scene is HUUUGE.

Thank u sonia..U keep writing too..Anyway wats the point..the creatives have already turned a deaf ear to the MN story..And i can never forget Nupur's hideous clothing in ahista song plus with those elastics while gunj was given a pretty decent wear.also being a new member of I-F i have realized that illogically written sequences and awful characterization related questions should never be arisen!!!! and i read someone's post her abt the TRP..feeling bad for Arj-Rati..these 2 r now gonna join Uday n co to fill some scenes up..

Sonia .... brilliant post ... kudos to you. Your seemingly incoherent rambling made perfect sense to me. You've summed up MN's story in a nutshell. Although the script writers started off with tremendous potential in form of dynamite M and N, it seems as though their interest dwindled mid-way. Either due to lack of time from having to pen 3-4 similar scripts or lack of inclination to develop the parallel leads of the show or both, the script writers have not been able to sustain my interest.

MN's story has no plot, no foundation or basis. It is made of several cherishable (sometimes 'hawt') moments. There is no seamless thread tying it all together. It is only due to AB's and RP's brilliant acting skills and chemistry that has kept a steady viewership thus far. But that too has reached a limit. No longer do people like me want to be duped by an inconsistent Mayank whose character changes on demand or stagnated Nupur whose character does show ANY growth.

Agreed this is all fiction, agreed one has to watch it leaving their brains at home, agreed showbiz is all about unlikely coincidences, and agreed that this is not a realistic documentary - still is it too much to ask for consistency in one and growth in the other's character?
