Popular TV and film star Varun Badola (of Astitva, Des Mein Niklla Hoga Chand and the movie Charas) has been formally engaged to Bollywood actress-cum-TV anchor-cum-pop singer Rajeshwari Sachdev.

"It was more of an arranged alliance. Although I knew him much earlier, Varun proposed to me last month while we were shooting together for our bold romantic movie Phir Sey. Crazy as it may sound, I insisted that he go and take my dad's permission.

And he religiously did it, following which we had a low-key engagement ceremony with both our families attending. We hope to tie the nuptial knot by end of this year," enthuses Rajeshwari who plays the plum role of Capt Laxmi Sehgal in Shyam Benegal's historical movie on Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose.

It may be recalled that Rajeshwari had bagged the coveted National Award for her rivetting role in Benegal's Sardari Begum.
