I will get engaged, not married: Rakhi

Swayamvar Sawant backtracks on promise, saying the groom needs time

Will you marry on August 2?
No. As per the format I have to choose one person I want to spend the rest of my life with. But all the three finalists Elesh, Manav and Chittiz asked me to give them more time before the actual wedding. So on August 2, I will choose one of them and get engaged. And that's a commitment.

But wasn't the plan to broadcast a live wedding at the end of the show?
See, it's a matter of life and death. This wedding is not a joke or a publicity stunt. The swayamvar was a platform for me to select the right candidate, then get to know him before the actual wedding.

Chosen One? Toronto-based Elesh Parujanwala is one of the top three contenders to win Rakhi's hand

But you have spent a lot of time with them.
When the show ends, and we spend time together without being in the public eye, that's when we'll really get to know each other.

Will you move in with your fianc once the show ends?
No, I won't. I am very clear about that. There won't be any physical relationship until we get married.

Why have the guys asked you for more time?
Manav is just 23, but he's very mature. He's told me that he doesn't want to be another Abhishek Awasthi. He wants to be independent and make his own name and for that he needs time. Elesh also wants to settle down in Mumbai. He has already invested money in a business proposition here. Chittiz is very honest. He's told me he still doesn't love me, but considers me a true friend. I respect that. At least he isn't trying to use me for his personal benefit.

So, are you ready to marry, even if they aren't?
Yes, but I don't want to force my decision on them. They have their own ambitions and plans and I value that. All three come from loving families, and all the parents want me to be their bahu. They have even agreed to let me do item numbers.

Are your mom and family attending the wedding?
No. My real family is the people I have worked with. I have invited everyone from Salman and Shah Rukh to Aishwarya.

Asli Reality

This is what is called a non-scripted reality show. We have no clue what's going to happen. We will only know on August 2.

I feel like suing the channel... I thought swayamvar implied choosing your husband and get married to him there and then - not just select out one person you want to give a try and suit kiya to theek, nahi to bye bye...
Talking of spending time away from public eye, why on earth you needed to get into public eye with the swayamvar at the first place? If u really wanted, why not kept it a personal matter and choose the right one for you away from your so called "public eye"... Now when it comes to eventuality, suddenly she wants time away from public eye... Such a double faced woman I tell you... Keeps projecting as a honest clear heart girl, see the mirror someday and ask yourself if u really are so... Complete natuanki...

HERE IS 2DAYS ARTICLE:

RAKHI SAWANT: "RAKHI KA SWAYAMVAR IS JUST ANOTHER REALITY OR GAME SHOW"

By Flynn Remedios ' Futuristic Media Network

Speaking to journalist Flynn Remedios, Rakhi Sawant Bollywood's most enigmatic and unpredictable personality said that she was NOT going to marry.

"This is just another Reality Show or Game Show. It's just like any other TV program. I am not going to marry now. Maybe I may date the winner in real life. But it doesn't mean that I am bound to marry the winner of the show if there is any one."

When further queried, she shot back, "There is a possibility that there may not be any winner. Yes I may decide I do not eventually like anyone from this lot of suitors," quipped the drama queen adding and hinting that there may be a Rakhi ka Swayamwar Part II or Season II.

Rakhi insisted that she would definitely want to get to know the contestants in real life. "Yeh toh Reel Life hein. Real Life to alag hein na. I have to get to know them inside out. Barabar se tatolna hoga. I can not make the same mistakes I made earlier.

Apparently, Rakhi has been married twice before according to unconfirmed media reports and should she get married this time, it would possibly be her third marriage. In fact, one of her former beaus had raised a ruckus saying that legally Rakhi Sawant was still married to him and how could the actress and item queen get married again.

Earlier Shradha Sharma and astro-numerologist Sandhiya Mehta had raised doubts about Rakhi's intention to marry. Sandhiya Mehta had asserted that the show was a farce and just anotherTV soap.

Marriage made in heaven, or on TV? Rakhi decides on Sunday
IANS | Friday, 31 July , 2009, 12:10
Will she? Won't she? Rakhi Sawant moved from being an outspoken item girl to a coy bride, and now the question whether she will actually get married through her televised swayamvar has middle-class India in a thrall. The 'wedding' is slated for Sunday on her show Rakhi ka Swayamvar -- which saw Rakhi choosing the most suitable groom from a list of 16 in 25 episodes -- and excitement is peaking. "It has to be the Canadian guy", She will walk out without marrying", "There will be a wild card entry", "The contestants would be asked to choose between money and Rakhi", "Who cares?", are just some of the random thoughts and queries of the many viewers that NDTV Imagine added after the reality show began on June 29. Dressed in Indian finery and suitably demure, Rakhi shortlisted five grooms and even went to their homes to get to know the families. As the feisty-bit actress who hit the limelight with her outrageous statements, not to forget the kissing controversy with singer Mika, played the ideal Indian 'bahu', viewers happily tuned in every weeknight. On Sunday, the speculation will come to an end when Rakhi announces whom she will marry. And everybody has a view. "It's likely that the show is a farce, because most of the shows that generate huge publicity are planned for that purpose. Maybe she will marry him for the show, with a pre-nuptial agreement and then annul the marriage, unless the chosen one is rich enough to stay with," said Jaya Kumar Mathur, a housewife. There are others who did not share Jaya's cynicism and said Rakhi could actually be looking for true love. According to Saniya Mehta, for instance, it is quite possible she will settle down with one of the final three contenders, Toronto-based Gujarati boy Elesh Parujanwala, young aspirant Manas Katyal and businessman Chhitiz Jain, both of whom stay in New Delhi. "But unless the groom shifts to Mumbai, which is Rakhi's workplace, her life would not be smooth after the show. She should take her decision carefully," said Mehta, who feels Parujanwala is the best suitor for the item girl. Channel officials are equally clueless. "It would be a big decision for Rakhi. There is new speculation every day about the climax of the show, but even we can't tell anything as of now. Ultimately, what will happen on Sunday will be entirely Rakhi's call," Nikhil Madhok, vice president (marketing and communications) of NDTV Imagine, said. "If she says she wants to marry the same day, we are all set with the preparations. If not, it's for her to decide because it's her life," he added. The preparations are grand. Whatever the decision, Rakhi will be dressed in a Neeta Lulla creation and wear jewellery designed by Farah Ali Khan, including a necklace worth Rs.3 million.

Of course, like any other grand Indian wedding, a multi-cuisine buffet dinner will be laid out. The menu, planned by Rakhi herself, will include Gujarati, Punjabi and Maharashtrian delicacies.
