Even if he has a connection, maybe that's why he took part... so that his face would become familiar in the bollywood world.

Maybe it is easy to build a mansion in 2-3 years in Canada elsewhere, but real estate is entirely different in Toronto. It's the biggest metropolis in the country, biggest population, huge amount of revenue generated by the industries here. It's like comparing the real estate value of Mumbai compared to the rest of India. Homes in Markham are pretty much the most expensive compared to everywhere in the GTA. I know this because my mom's dream is to have a house there.. and there is simply no way we can afford it!

His parents house is big, not a mansion compared to lots of other homes here, but it is relatively big. The Toronto Star, which is a pretty reputable and major newspaper here, did a background check on him and said this:
He grew up in Markham, attending Milliken Mills High School before earning a degree in Business Administration at the University of Toronto's Scarborough campus. Next came film studies at the Toronto Film School and a stint doing sales for the family business, a sanitation and restaurant supplies wholesaler.

Last November, Parujanwala followed his Bollywood dreams to Mumbai, where he founded a film academy. That's when he saw ads for the show on TV.
Sure, it's true, anyone can start a website, but starting a business is more involved than that. It usually takes a big amount of capital just to start, and to gain that level of investment (and loans), the banks and other investors have to believe you are worth your salt.. and that you can pay it back if necessary. Ye sab karne ke liye kuch to hoga iske paas.

Also here's a video which proves he's one of the directors of the Keon International Film Academy (KIFA):

I think he actually sounds kind of funny and nervous in this.. but at least it proves it's legit!

In general I agree with Chits that people in India think all NRIs are rich and this is not true. My family is middle class and we are NRI and most NRI people I know here are middle to upper-middle class, not like the Karan Johar mansionwaala types. But I think Elesh is a serious businessman, obviously not a millionaire or anything like that, but a businessman who is at some level successful and trying to stand on his own feet instead of doing his family's buisness.
