This is not true everywhere around the world. Miss World is not really known much in North America. I can say that much from what I have seen and heard. And Miss Universe makes more money in recent times due to advertisements and commercial tie-ups due to the ratings it gets in the amount of viewers, who watch.
Priyanka and Aish were very serious about their careers, and the moves they made career-wise, turned out to be successful for them. I personally liked Lara and Sush's answers when they won their respective pageants and when they are interviewed. But that does not count for much when you have not made much of a mark for yourself in Bollywood in terms of performances, which partly does have to do with the luck of the draw.

There are few countries who donot give support to Miss World or same other events !! As you have mentioned that in North America it is not really much known !! I remember when PC became Miss World, Jerry Springer was the Host in London's Millenium Domb !! Isn't he from north America !! I have hardly watched Miss Universe but watch Miss World every year !! 😉
