Prachi Desai on her new "Life Partner"
After the success of Rock On, Prachi Desai is now looking forward to Abbas Mustan' romantic comedy, Life Partner which will hit the theaters on 14th Aug. "I play a today's girl called Sonali who looks after her father business. My appearance is completely different from Rock On. There I had a particular look through out, but in this film it's more varied. I got to try on many beautiful Indian outfits."
Prachi goes on "The theme of the film is very universal i.e. Arranged vs love marriage. Nearly everybody in India who are over the age of 20, go through this confusion right! Besides love, Life Partner also deals with friendship and human values." She further quips, "My character in this film goes for arranged marriage, which is ironic as in real life I would prefer love marriage, which my parents should arrange" (winks)
So how was the experience of working with Tusshar? "It's quite surprising that despite working for Balaji for 2 and half years, we did not get a chance to know each other. I had always heard that he was quite committed to his work and he proved that on the sets.. Normally most actors switch off immediately post pack up, but Tushar remains in his character for some time. I too started doing the same"
Prachi has been among the very few TV stars who have successfully made the leap from small to big screen "You need to make the right choice at the right time. Also luck always play's a major factor. Time was also on my side, I was quite young when I started. Hence I always knew that something big would soon come along" states Prachi.
On a possible return to TV, Prachi who had won Jhalak Dikhlaja, season 2 says "I will remain connected in some way or the other to the idiot box. I would not mind anchoring a show ", she adds.
Prachi is also shooting for her third film - Once Upon Time in Mumbai, where she is cast opposite Emraan Hashmi. After essaying a caring wife in Rock On, she moved to a comic vein in Life Partner. "While my character in Once Upon Time, is quite serious…" she adds abruptly.
In closing we could not help but ask her if she felt it to be monotonous to play a wife in all of her past projects, "Kind of, but in Life Partner the marriage comes later. I am tired of playing an onscreen wife, luckily in Once Upon a Time, I am single"
