d'you know what happens if you lie down on a cat? the cat scratches you upon which you yelp, get up and go away!
yup. is a fact. which i learnt the hard way last night. all this just to tell you that i'm writing this on a sore butt... 😆 and 'specially since it's so late, i'm gonna just keep it to some really big things that i noticed.
* little thing: man, was i crushed when they started the episode with prem walking on the road. *sigh* i had kinda hoped... well, i guess that poor prem had not yet recovered from all those wounds that had been inflicted on him by his heer. *sigh*
* hc thing: he really makes for a beautiful, dramatic, anguished lover doesn't he? 😆 seriously... but i wonder? which flyovers were those? i'm sooo curious.
* prem's brothers thing: y'know -- it was curious how both prem's brothers ultimately reacted in the same way, no? i was taken aback. 'cause i thought harman and preet are very different in nature, and in such different circumstances -- i'd have expected different reactions to their finding out that heer babhi is not coming back with them. but... they didn't!
i was glad when harman came running to miserable-prem. 'cause he really frightened me when he leaned over the railing of the highway. no seriously. heer had made him so miserable, i thought for a moment... but prem wouldn't do that no? 'cause if his heart stops beating, then so would heer's?
and 'cause i thought it was what ram's bharat would do -- search out and help ram.
but then, my jaw dropped at the abrupt shift -- ''if you don't get bhabhi back, then you will lose everything -- your family, your brothers, your old life.''
and actually, the same thing happened later with preet. preet was mad at prem? for not bringing his bhabhi back? ''and if he didn't bring her, then what right do i have to visit?'' huh??! preet??!!! what about the times that you and heer stressed over hip-hop??! did that mean nothing? when she stood up for you as a good hotel manager when prem was ... apparently dead? where did that go??!
and i wanted to ask them: so your relationship with your beloved ''heer bhabhi'' starts and ends with prem bhaiyya? that's it?? there's nothing more to it beyond that? so if he can't persuade her, you won't even try? forget trying to persuade, you won't even go meet her??! y'know? for a family of such lovely brothers, with such displays of affection earlier -- this disappointed me.
either they really only treated their relationship with heer as connected to prem. or - worse! - they chose not to visit heer to punish pb!
but interesting questions got raised here: harman has met heer and chahat -- did he ever tell prem 'bout that meeting? did he tell preet??? does preet then know about chahat? will they ever tell anything to each other??!
* little thing: meher's switch from silly preet-wife to insanely-happy heer-sister was very sweet. she was perfect in how she was desparate to know all about heer didi. the way her words practically tumbled over each other was nice.
* heer-chahat thing: wasn't it funny how this episode had chahat being more of a mommy to heer than the other way around? when heer comes into her, after her miserable session of destroying prem, miserable and torn inside herself, chahat reminds her that heer never feels bad when she hugs chahat.
and later, when heer awakened to the sound of the plane passing by, it is the child who tells mom that ''nothing more will trouble you, that's the last plane''.
besides the switched mother-daughter relationship, those scenes said that
- heer has been miserable before like this --
- heer has been watching out for passing-by planes like this --
* little thing: heer has just shattered her prem's heart. and she still hasn't cried a tear. but the first thing she does is to go check on her little daughter. to make sure that she is safe. to maybe tell her in her mind that she will always keep her daughter safe. and it should've been enough to calm heer, to convince her that she had done the right thing.
but what i loved was that after she tucks chahat in, she has to turn away and struggle against the tears... that come with the memory of what she did to prem? *sigh* poor miserable heer...
* little thing: hmm... chahat is a light sleeper.
she can sense her mother cry and tell her that a hug will solve the probelm? or even after that, when heer awakens at the sound of a plane flying overhead; she is aware enough to tell her that it's the last plane out.
did she hear her parents fight outside her room? even though, they weren't loud -- just fierce and intense. but... did little chahat hear?
* prem-lj thing: an interesting juxtaposition of mother-daughter was father-son!
d'you know? this is the first time that we've had such an interaction between prem and his bauji? every other important prem-bauji moment has always been riddled with lj dumping responsibility -- of something or the other! -- on prem! but this time? oh, this moment was just a father comforting his son -- and it was sooo lovely. 😍
from the start: where prem comes in accusing his father of conning him to go to india. and then prem heartbreakingly telling his father that he couldn't get what he truly wanted. and then prem doing lj-style bhashan on lj!! (oh sweet revenge! -- that was almost the best part! 😆) but i must say that prem throwing himself into his father's arms to sob out his heartache was .. heart-breaking.
prem has never cried with his own heartache to his bauji before. he was like a little boy when he said ''your son has returned, but it doesn't feel like he has! i met heer in india, bauji. i met heer in india.'' and left his essence there too 'cause he wasn't able to bring her back for his bauji.
admittedly the actual text of that dialogue was twisted: when prem kept going on about ''mitti'', i was going ''huh??'' 'cause i kept thinking that the mitti in which lj's blood runs was sitting right in front of him, sobbing his heart out. either which way you look at it: as flesh of lj's flesh, blood of lj's blood. or as prem who is one with heer. either which way, prem puttar, you are your bauji's mitti in which his khoon runs. so please stop saying that all lj wants is heer, please. he wants you too, prem. he loves you. so please stop crying... please? 😔
and of course, most probably the sweetest touch: ''we have a little daugther -- you are a grandfather! but heer didn't even tell me our daughter's name, bauji. '' oh prem... stop wrecking my heart, wouldja?? you'll find out soon, boy. just ... w&w like the rest of us! 😆
* thank you creatives thing: for finally making lj prem's father -- truly. i think from now on, i'll call him pbauji. and i really don't care how ungainly that sounds! i don't! 😛
* last thing: *sigh* so gaali-maa has got vitchface's picture up. her urn of ashes around. so nothing has moved on anyone knowing anything about vitchface's evil and stooopidity.
*sigh* 'kay, then i don't understand s'thing: why does everyone in jzoo hate gaali-maa? why does pbauji hate gaali-maa? why won't any of her sons talk to her? why doesn't prem give her the time of day? if vitchface is still a beloved-sister-and-daughter, why does jzoo hate gaali-ma?
*sigh* i'm w&w. i'm kinda resigned to a few things, i think. i'm resigned to gaali-maa acting like dirtchachi and almost fooling prem into getting engaged. i'm resigned to not seeing a proper boss-prem (he who will yank heer by her hand, give her a few good shakes and say ''ho gayi tumhari bakwas???''😆) i'm waiting to see chahat establish contact with hotel-owner-papa-ji.
and through all the resignation and the waiting, i will happily carry the horror on gaali-maa's face as she watches prem crying his heart out in his father's arms and realises that he met heer, he came back, all in the space of two days -- and ''calm prem'' has gone completely to pieces. do your worst, gaali-maa/kans! prem-heer-are-one. were, are, and always will be!
highlight of the episode: prem finally becoming his father's little boy and crying in his bauji's arms. baaaawwwwlll! prem, don't cry!! please! please don't weep out all the sorrow of the last six years of seperation from heer, all the effort of shutting yourself off from your family, all the hurt that you had to absorb from heer's cutting off what you think are links to prem-heer-are-one -- don't weep it all out in one shot, prem. it may you do good, but it's wrecking havoc on my non-existant heart, prem! please don't!
