Father - a drunkard. Yes, he is good at heart and cares for his son, but has done theft and is drowned in alcohol all the time. He has been a good theater artist in his heydays. But, he is a failed family man.
Mother - A quarrelsome, uncouth woman, who become ready for rishta because Archana will bring all the dowry and will help in household work. She did not think about Manav's happiness. To her credit, she loves Manav same as her own kids, though he is the step son. She quarrels with her husband, mainly, for house and her children. She is respectful towards her brother-in-law and values Manav's contribution to the family. May be, circumstances made her the way it is, where she had to fight for everything. She seems to have raised her single-handed in spite of having a husband.
Brother - A irresponsible youth without directions, who steals his brother's hard earned money and sells tickets outside movie theaters instead of studying, when his dear brother doesn't even want to marry till his siblings get good jobs.
Sister - She is sweet and adores her brother. But, she is too young to have any positive influence in the family.
Uncle - He is one sane man. And, it seems Manav has gone after him. But, he will be going back to village soon.
Also, none of the family members are educated. And, all this has nothing to do with them being poor. Money can never buy sanskars. Manav's family has seriously flawed members.
It is natural for all of us to wish that after all the hardships that Manav is going through in life, he should get Archana as a loving, caring, supportive yet strong wife and get all the happiness that a good person like him deserves. But, does Archana deserve this? Her family may be a middle class one, but is a very loving, caring, closely-knit family, where education is valued and sanskar are nurtured. Archana is going to get biggest shock of her life, when she will move away from love and care of her family and go to Manav's house.
It can be argued that Manav is a gem of a person and will care for Archana more than his life, which I know he will. But, in India, when a girl marries, she just doesn't marry a guy but marries into a family. And, that's why, in arranged marriages family is given so much of importance. It's not like that after marriage Archana and Manav will start living separately. Archana will have to live with his family and I am finding it very unfair to her, who has already gone through so much in life, without any fault of her own. I wish Manav's family was a good one. Manav being uneducated and poor doesn't matter much.
On a positive note, may be, Archana going in that family will bring positive changes in every family member's life. Manav's family members are not bad, but flawed and Archana will bring out good traits of every one and will bring harmony in the family. But, it will be an uphill task.
So, what are your thoughts? How is Archana and Manav's family's chemistry going to be?
