1.Aishwarya Rai Bachchan

They wrote her off, called her a plastic doll, even criticised her choice of men. 15 years after she first won the Miss World title and stepped into Bollywood, Aishwarya Rai is a name to reckon with. The path to this pinnacle though hasn't been easy. First she had a violent relationship with Salman Khan. She then briefly dated the indiscreet Vivek Oberoi after which she settled into the Bachchan family. All along, Aishwarya Rai maintained a dignified silence about her personal life, talking just about things that SHOULD ideally matter. Aishwarya Rai is perhaps the ideal example of how slow and steady wins the race and how being politically correct has never killed anyone.

Lesson for Finance Minister: If things have to go wrong, they will. Shut off the world and go about your work.
2.Amitabh Bachchan

They call him the Big B. And what better time to consult him than now? July 6 is after all the day of the Big B-udget! Jokes apart. Amitabh Bachchan has seen the highs and more importantly the lows. He's risen from the ashes and is the man Mr Mukherjee should call before announcing plans to revive the economy.

Lesson for Finance Minister: Damn the recession, he'll show you how the phoenix rises.

3.Shah Rukh Khan

He isn't called King Khan for nothing. With no godfathers in the industry Shah Rukh Khan made it big on his own, not a mean task for an industry outsider. Way past 40, Shah Rukh Khan is one man who still connects with most of the population in this country. What's more, there isn't another man who's managed to hard sell himself in a way Shah Rukh Khan has.

Lesson for Finance Minister: How to sell Brand India to the world. Who knows, we might just get the permanent seat at the UN after all!
4.Aamir Khan

It takes something to market a film and make it the biggest hit of the year. And Aamir Khan did just that. Barely weeks before the year closed, Aamir Khan's Ghajini gave Shah Rukh Khan's Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi a run for its money. With a foolproof marketing strategy, Ghajini ended up being the biggest hit of last year. He made strategic appearances, gave out select interviews and ensured that he had the people on his side. The result? Shah Rukh Khan was toppled from the Filmfare Power List and Ghajini was a super duper success.

Lesson for Finance Minister: How to market India to India Inc AND not get into Singur-like situations.
5.Mithun Chakraborty

This one is probably an unlikely name to appear in a list of A-grade film stars. But try visiting a town called Ooty in South India and you'll know just who Mithun Chakraborty really is. Known as the uncrowned king of the place, Mithun's clout is unquestionable. He worked in low-budget flicks, yes. But he also made his millions.

Lesson for Finance Minister: You don't have to have grand plans all the time to make an economy work. Small, executable ideas are often the key.
