*sigh* am typing this for the second time since I lost my original post...
GG, that is how badly I wanna comment on this post!
This one time I agree with PD. Not with her convenient palming off of the onus of the scene onto the actors, but that scene would fall short of expectations.
Actors are human beings, not preprogrammed robots who can emote at the click of a button or a swish of the creatives' lethal pen! Is that not the reason some actors are cast time and again against each other? Capitalising on an existing chemistry? Or some others are cast for the sole purpose that they have not been seen with each other ever before? Because the script demands a fresh interaction?
If the scene falls short of expectation, it is solely because the actors were never given the opportunity to explore and display the range of emotions required of the grandest scene of revelation. They have never been given the chance to show affection, adulation, respect or any of the other million emotions that form love. All we have seen so far is attraction which is still too shallow for such a scene to work. When the actors have not gone through the natural progression in script, to expect them to translate the myriad emotions on screen with each other, is just being completely unfair!
Having said that Rati still seems to have nailed it! Wish I could say the same about AB, who seems more the method actor, not as natural, talented nevertheless, but requiring raw material. He had a strong Base as the sarcastic, nerdy, yet cool dude, but never had enough to transition smoothly into lover boy.
