Exclusive: Behind the Scenes of Kambakkht Ishq - Part 1

One of the biggest films that people are looking forward to this season is Sajid Nadiadwala's Kambakkht Ishq. The Akshay Kumar-Kareena Kapoor starrer has already generated tremendous buzz in the trade circles, thanks to the larger than life promos featuring Hollywood heavyweights such as Sylvester Stallone, Denise Richards and Brandon Routh.
Bollywood Hungama brings you some exclusive never before seen on-the-sets stills from Kambakkht Ishq and as a bonus we even have Kambakkht Ishq's director Sabbir Khan describing the experience of shooting each of these scenes in his own words. "I think this is an interesting picture which sees Akshay, my producer Sajid Nadiadwala and I all dressed in black. This is one of the early days during our Europe schedule. We were shooting in this small and picturesque town of Italy called Vicenza. It was an early morning shoot and very cold. We were shooting our title song 'Kambakkht Ishq' and as you can see, we are watching the dancers go through their moves. Akshay especially is seen watching very closely as he is the one who has to go there and actually do it (laughs)."
"This is a very emotional scene in the film. It's Kareena's breakdown scene. I wanted her to do the whole scene in one shot, so I made sure she went through a lot of rehearsals. I didn't want to break the flow of emotions with 'Cuts'. She came in early in the morning and rehearsed. We went through her lines a couple of times. Soon, she became very comfortable with the scene and I could complete the entire scene in one shot. Kareena is an actress who gives her best shot in the first few takes so I didn't want to emphasize on many re-takes and thankfully that situation didn't arise."
"We were shooting an action sequence with the biggest action star Sylvester Stallone at the Paramount Studios. He is such a huge star but there was this great comfort level talking to him. At no point did he give this impression of him being one of the biggest stars of Hollywood.
In this particular shot, I am explaining to him where the cameras are going to be placed and where I want to begin and end the shot. He was exactly absorbing whatever I was saying and was taking directions like a baby. I think sometimes it's completely overwhelming for me to have got a chance at such a young age to direct this hugely successful Hollywood star whom I have grown up watching."
"This is a scene shot inside the prestigious Kodak Theatre. I am seen rehearsing the lines with Holly Valence. The entire scene has Holly introducing the grand ceremony. She is like the 'Host of the Night'.
Holly is one of the sweetest persons that I have met. She is Australian but now settled in L.A. She is a fabulous music artiste and is one of the biggest pop sensations in Australia. Holly has a great sense of humour and I had a blast working with her. I am happy that we are friends now."
"This is the first shot that I took of Brandon inside the Paramount Studios. I am telling him exactly what he is supposed to do and how I am going to introduce his character. From the looks of it, Brandon is seen listening very attentively to my instructions. In the background, you can also see my action coordinator Spiro Razatos who is busy preparing with his stunt guys for the action scene."
"This is Akshay's house in the film. We chose this house in Malibu because the moment I saw the house I fell in love with it. It was told to me by the people who were showing me the house that it once belonged to Jessica Alba and she gave it out for movie shoots. It's a splendid house and completely larger than life.
Akshay plays a flamboyant stuntman in the film and the house with it's in-your face appeal suits his personality. I shot this scene with Akshay and Denise in the open-air Jacuzzi. I also shot a huge party sequence outside. You can see the Pacific Ocean and it's simply a breathtaking view."
