Honestly I have never seen one despite having lived in a few white nations for years. I have seen all kinds of weirdos with tattoos but never seen something like that! I have seen several kinds of crosses though, and many Japanese symbols... As far as I know, many people pick the design from the list the tattoo centers have, and may not be knowing that they are religious symbols and might find it cool instead... Cant blame the ignorance as offensive nature. Could be the same for Salman too, he wouldnt have known it's a religious symbol, because if he did, he wouldnt have worn it as it would be against his religious beliefs.

But akku how can anyone living in India not know what a Khanda is? My friends who are catholic will easily tell you what religion it belongs to! I know for sure salman didn't mean any sort of harm by wearing that but shouldn't one think twice before wearing whatever is given to you? Because let's face it, it was a fashion symbol and a khanda is in no way a fashion symbol. Maybe I feel strong about this cos my family actually believe in sikhism quite a bit so we know our bit about it and it is quite disrespectful even though done unintentionally. I disagree though cos if he can dress up as Krishna Bhagwan then why would wearing a Khanda be against religious beliefs?..and sorry cashmoney but people don't usually get such tatoos in 'those' places you're referring to. I've seen a few white down central london but they are part of the Hare krishna Movement which is quite popular in the white population in certain parts of England thanks to George Harrison. So yeah salman didn't mean it but one should definitely be more careful. There was a massiveeee controversy on a friend's FB recently who was a muslim but wore a cross (just a cross shape..not rosary or anything) and she got a hugeee lecture from a lot of her friends and people were just hating..so that's why I say to avoid controversy, avoid doing all this stuff.
h4l, with all religious thoughts aside, I left India while young and didnt know much about the religious symbols of Sikhism as I didnt have much exposure to it, since being from the South. I knew the symbols of the three religions there, and I had classmates who loved to wear crosses and moon-star symbols despite being hindus. Because we had such religious harmony and so no one bothered about it. Yes, people were more reluctant to wear om symbol if they were non-hindus because their religious leaders wouldnt appreciate it so much. But then christians wear bindis even to church and muslim girls dont cover their heads with their shawls, when it isnt like that outside my state. Plus hindu gals wear churidar/salwar to temples which wasnt aprpeciated in many temples earlier. I gained more exposure about all aspects of different religions after leaving India - surprising but true. 😃
What's wrong with a muslim wearing a cross? You mean, christians had problem with it? Aneek always wore a big cross on his necklace.. And I have seen so many bollywood celebrities wearing big crosses as fashion symbols... Aditya was wearing a cross on SRGMP as a host, I remember. Many people in my place in India always seek the cross when the thoughts about ghosts come to mind - it gives them so much peace of mind and take out their fear... I think it's all in the heads of people... 😊

I agree sis that there's probably not as much exposure to sikhism down south but nonetheless I still know about jainism if you ask me the basics as in their basic belief or religious symbol for most religions, but then again i've been brought up in such an environment, as a matter of fact my parents both got engaged in a sikh temple and neither of them are sikh. :) Totally loadsa ppl love wearing the cross but that's cos they don't see it as a religious symbol-I know some people who would get really offended by that. You see a loottt of RnB stars these days who wear rosary beads and do all kinds of stuff!🤢I dunno, atleast ehre in the UK people love wearing the daaga's (I dunno what you call them sorry) as a kinda blessing and a aum necklace or something and i've found its pretty common in mumbai too but you're probably right, maybe down south it isn't such a big thing. :) and yess the catholic tamils all are very much in touch with their culture, they all go to church with a red bindi for tamil mass😛I too don't see the harm in a muslim wearing a cross-the criticism was from both sides sis, those comments were so nasty!one side were advising her to stop being a muslim if she wanted to continue wearing the cross while the others would just tell her to stop offending their religious sentiments-it was aweful! Some things are taken too seriously. Like I said salman did it unintentionally i'm sure but people do get offended and that should be taken into consideration..
I agree with ya! And I understand what you are saying - as to how some people will find it offensive, and I respect those sentiments. I do hope and pray that something like that will not happen... I cant help wondering - what if Rakhi gifted him that as she was very close to him and considered him as a brother? Possible, na? Yes, I have learned about Jainism in school, and so learned a few things about their religion. I did learn about Buddhism and Sikhism too that way, but I dont recall learning about Khanda... I know about the turban, Kesh, Kara and Kirpan... I dont mean to offend anyone, but that's all the exposure I had while in India, and it wasnt like now where you can find all the info on google...
It's not only in Tamil nadu, even in Kerala, many christian girls wear bindi and nose rings, and many married christian women wear sindoor like the hindus... The wedlock is the same shape for all three religions in Kerala, except that the christian one will have a cross shape inside, hindu one will have the Om and muslim one will have the moon+star inside. The difference would be visible only when looked closely, so from a distance they all look kinda the same...
