While some TV shows get ready for a generation leap, others remain
Avinash Mukherjee and Avika Gor in 'Balika Vadhu'

Now that the IPL has concluded, child lead actors in the primetime shows, Uttaran and Jai Shri Krishna are all set to take a generation leap. However, those who cant get enough of Anandi and Jagdishs childish banter in the popular show Balika Vadhu, which is telecast on the same channel, have a reason to smile as the kids arent ready to grow up yet. Even though the focus of the show has lately shifted to the adult actors, actors Avika Gor and Avinash Mukherjee, who play the young couple Anandi and Jagdish respectively, will grow up gradually in Balika Vadhu. Talking about the change in the plot, Rajesh Kamat, CEO of the channel, said, The reason why we werent showing much of Anandi and Jadgish was because both the actors were busy taking their exams . It would have been ironic if after addressing child literacy so forcefully in the serial, our own lead actors didnt get time off for their studies. Now that the exams are over, Avika and Avinash will be back in full force.

Meanwhile, the child actors from Uttaran, Sparsh Khanchandani aka Ichcha and Ishita Panchal aka Tapasya, and Krishna Bhatia aka little Krishna of Jai Shri Krishna are about to exit from their respective shows due to the time leap. Explaining the reason behind the decision, Kamat said, There are too many imitations of what you call the juvenile formula. We feel confident enough now to let our two popular serials take a generation leap without affecting their popularity. As for Balika Vadhu, Kamath envisages no generation leap. In fact it would be interesting to see the two actors grow up as the serial progresses, he said.

That's so nice to hear! I always thought that it would be great to see Avika & Avinash keep their parts and grow up together on screen rather seeing a leap. Both of them made the faces of Anandi & Jagdish so I dont think I could imagine other actors as them. They're already in their growing ages anyways since they're almost teens. Thank God the BV team is so smart. 😃

Thanks for the article 😳
