Sargam is the Hindustani or the indian equivalent of the solfegio (western solfege) and derived from the first four notes Sa, Re, Ga, Ma (in layman terms - it refers to the rendering of music through naming the notes eg Sa, Re, Ga, Ma ....)
Sargam is practiced against a drone and the emphasis is not on the scale but on the intervals, thus it may be considered just intonation. The same notes are also used in South Indian Carnatic music .....
