Ehhhh I feel this time Sonam is going to suffer the criticism, being its her first time. But just being there with Aishwarya is a huge achievement itself. I hope both rock the red carpet. And at Cannes you are given what to wear, so hopefully they are both given great dresses! Sonam will probably be in Chanel. I am just sooo very excited to see both of them there! My two faves.
Even though this is a first for Sonam and Aishwarya is a veteran on the Cannes red carpet still I think Sonam will nail it and may be steal the thunder from right under the nose of Aishwarya Rai when it comes to fashion and style.

this is the first time im hearing this...yes, the dress is paid for by the promoters, in this case loreal, so in that sense u can say they are given the dress, but to say they have no say in what they will be wearing is 99.9% wrong...theyre shown many dresses according to the occasion from which they choose..their dresses are designed according to their wish before hand...remember Ash's disasterous cannes appearance where neeta lulla designed her outfits?...so, its basically upto them to chose the dress, and remember they go in for fittings so they its not as if theyre kept in the dark about their outfits
