Ash, Sonam head for Cannes

The Indian presence in Cannes this year will be mostly limited to L'Oreal brand ambassadors Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Sonam Kapoor.

Sonam looks ready for the part. "To be a part of team which has stalwarts like Aishwarya Rai, Eva Longoria is such an honour. I'm so young, and to be a part of something like this. I'm so honoured," she says.

After all the noise created over Ash's disastrous wardrobe in Cannes over the years, there's bound to be a lot of attention for Sonam's red carpet look.

But the Kapoor girl's not worried.

When asked about the inevitable comparisons between Ash and her, Sonam says, "I'll never reach her level, she's extremely beautiful. She was the headgirl of my school so I've always looked up to her. I hope my career is even 10 per cent of hers."

I for one am completely excited to see Sonam on the Red Carpet. This girl works the Indian Red carpet like no other! Don't like her much for anything, but have to hand it to her for taking fashion risks....even though at times it might come off as copying the young Hollywood crowd (Olsen twins....recently).

😆 well, most of the times she is dressed very well.. so i'm sure she'll chose something great for the occasion...

I read those comparisons too - Olsen twins and Sonam.
Frankly that is not a compliment and I think on most occassions Sonam dresses much better than the Olsen twins.

Sonam will be amazing on the red carpet, she's always well-dressed...

Aishwarya, I'm not so sure...her previous outfits at cannes, weren't so nice besides from last year 😳

Ehhhh I feel this time Sonam is going to suffer the criticism, being its her first time. But just being there with Aishwarya is a huge achievement itself. I hope both rock the red carpet. And at Cannes you are given what to wear, so hopefully they are both given great dresses! Sonam will probably be in Chanel. I am just sooo very excited to see both of them there! My two faves.
