sidesh sucked. someone should have told him not to make khichdee out of the dance. pathetic
And why did it suck? What was the khichdee?
Popping and locking are techniques, that are a subset within break dancing. These techniques are versatile and can be used in a wide variety of movements. If you wanted you could brush your teeth in a pop and lock motion and make a dance out of it. Siddhesh performed popping and locking, but instead of using the same typecast moves seen over and over again he mixed it up to show something different. There was nothing that was not pop and lock. The only criticism about his performance is that he used more popping than locking. He did not fully utilize locking completely.
Jai did a good balanced blend of both popping and locking. However, it is obvious that this is not his forte. Jai is a movement dancer, his strength is in his body poses and flow. The way he arches his back, holds his foot, his head positioning, the movement angles, these are his strengths. In popping and locking he has to give up his graceful flow for a more jarred motion that makes this form much harder for him. I think he deserves credit for doing something completely out of his forte.
I think Jai was also harshly criticized for using B-Boing. Pop and lock is a technique that started with electronica and was adapted into hip hop and breakdancing. Various dance forms can use pop and lock. In fact you could do a disco with pop and lock movement.
Prince too did perform both equitably, and he did it very well. It was the most perfect technical demonstratio of popping and locking. However, it was nothing he has not done before. He did not mix it up like Siddhesh and this is not a whole new genre for him like it was for Jai. If popping and locking is Prince's forte I would expect him to innovate and mix it up a lot. It is time he pushed the limits and stopped keeping himself trapped in his comfort zone.
However, I would not blame Prince completely for it. Remo should have picked Salman so that Salman gets a chance to do something different. Also Remo should have encouraged Prince to do something unique and arranged a better choreography
Amidst the three that performed pop and lock, my ranks are 1) Siddhesh 2) Prince 3) Jai

it's like saying MJ is repetitive. 😆
this was supposed to be a L&P dance. sidesh did not do it though he was trying to make up for that by concocting new khichdee. even jai was better than sidesh.
Calling Prince repetitive is not like calling Michael Jackson repitive.
Michael Jackson's dancing style has evolved. With the Jackson 5 the dancing form was more of soul fusion. When he launched his solo career his style was heavily influenced by disco. Dont stop till you get enough is so Saturday Night Fever in some aspects. He later took various forms of street dancing to create his signature brand.
Watch his three famous videos from 'Thriller' Bille Jean, Thriller and Beat it have different styles. Bille Jean utilizes ballroom movements and jazz. Beat it is more street style and even a bit West Side Story inspired. Thriller is one of the best examples of mass choreography. There are similar techniques, but employed in different ways.
However, his style does get monotonous once you come to Dangerous and History. Another aspect for the monotony is that a same standard dancing image has been used to promote his tours or concernts. But the latter part of his career he stagnated into monotonous dance forms.
Prince on the other hand is not varying much. He can use his forte in different ways. The same movements are repeated. However, I do not think this is in anyway a reflection of Prince as a dancer. He just is not being pushed enough in the right direction.
