When Aishwarya Rai Bachchan's father suddenly fell ill, the paparazzi immediately caught up on her and Abhishek's frequent trips to a hospital. They wanted to know what was going on. Aishwarya had to set some quality time apart for her father from her hectic schedules. She also had to decide how to break the news to her innumerable fans. The Unforgettable Tour, the concert tour with her in-laws was just around the corner. It was difficult for her to be away 90 days at a stretch when she desperately wanted to be at home. However, professionalism triumphed over heart and off she went to perform for her fans in the US and Europe, her heart and mind with her father, who was bravely coping with the disease.
Priyanka Chopra, on the other hand, had no support from anyone in the film industry. She had not wanted any help. She had the onus of handling her father's illness alone. Priyanka proved to be an exceptionally strong woman, and she managed to cope wonderfully. Incidentally, both Aishwarya and Priyanka's fathers were detected with a serious illness during a routine check-up. Priyanka's dad had to be flown to the US immediately for a surgery. She made the necessary arrangements all on her own. Not one colleague came forward to help her and that is the way she wanted it to be. Soon after her dad fell ill, she was shooting for Bluffmaster. Nobody on the sets knew about the turmoil she was going through. 'Why should I have told anyone about it? Everyone has their own problems to deal with', Priyanka had said with petrifying pragmatism. |
