I understand what you guys are saying but i don't think what they are doing is falling under gender bias. Its protecting one group that is bound to be given a raw deal. That requires some compromise. And also like you said its no fun to watch just boys dancing on these songs. Jodis are somewhat a requirement probably until the very end.

now i am wondering how the elimination will work now. Would they eliminate one boy with lowest votes and one girl with lowest votes or will it be only one contestant regardless of gender. If they want to maintain the girl:boy ratio...

I have been watching these competitions for 2 years. Is there any basis to this saying? This was brought forward in Indian Idol 4.
I think public voting is regional first and religion based second. After that if the contestant belongs to a well knit group like Army, police etc. Sex is a very small factor. If there is a girl from a region which does not vote, then she will be eliminated. But blame it on region and not the group.
I think they are going to eliminate 1 boy and 1 girl. Or if there is only 1 elimination every week, they are going to alternate.
