Celebrating Holi in Yashraj style

Holi, besides being a festival that's quite literally a 'bucket full' of colourful hues, also has been the eternal favorite to 'play with' for Bollywood directors for eras and decades alike!

This colour-fest has prompted many a film directors to have at least one song in their films based on the same. Leading the gang is the 'Brand Ambassador of Romance' himself Yash Chopra, who has, time and again, given the spirit of Holi an immensely colorful treatment every time, with each film of his.

With the 'Holi-Day' just around the corner, we take a look at some of his films that have put Holi on a pedestal, in the true Yashraj style!

Silsila
The 'silsila' of any Holi festival is just not complete without having the cult song 'Rang Barse' from the YRF stable's super-duper hit Silsila.

The song that had the legendary Big B crooning 'Rang Barse' along with the never-say-old diva Rekha still has people of all ages on their feet! The metaphor of their romance has been aptly showcased in the form of the fountain that also forms the song's backdrop.

The story (read 'the song') just doesn't end there as, besides Big B and Madame Re', the song also has Sanjeev Kumar and Jaya Bhaduri, who envy the romance between Amitabh and Rekha. This is one song that truly has all the essences to set your Holi ablaze.

Mashaal
This film that was a hit of the 1980s happens to be a social drama directed by the genius Yash Chopra. This film was domain to the famous song 'Holi Aayi Holi Aayi', which featured the doyens Dilip Kumar, Waheeda Rahman, Rati Agnihotri alongwith Anil Kapoor.

The song shows Anil Kapoor in a 'rowdy-mawaali' avatar romancing with the rich chic Rati Agnihotri. As the song proceeds, the legendary Dilip Kumar also shakes a leg in his unique style, thus tempting his onscreen wife Waheeda Rahman to join him. This song is indeed a must-mast watch this Holi!

Darr
Besides setting the trend of the 'K...K...K…romance', this film became equally famous for its Holi song, whose lyrics 'Ang Se Ang Se Lagaana' still lingers in every cinegoer's heart and mind alike!

This colourful song showcased the likes of the onscreen couple Sunny Deol, Juhi Chawla along with the 'mysterious' SRK. And yes, full points to Yashraj for proving that 'Age is just a number' by having the versatile Anupam Kher and Tanvi Azmi at their colorful romantic dance-fest.

Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi
Just recently the song 'Haule Haule' broke all record to emerge as the biggest hit of the year gone by, thus crediting the film Rab Ne …. With a much need boost at the BO.

The song in particular highlighted the festive Holi scene where Shahrukh Khan makes a conscious effort to play Holi with his wife Taani (Anushka Sharma).

Though the duo engages together in this fun and frolic, the coyness that exudes from the characters some how fails to add vigour to the festivities. While on the other hand it is this same coyness that signifies the basic feelings and emotions that really touches one's heart.
