Ayesha Takia's wedding to restaurateur Farhan Azmi (March 1), was marred by one person's absence, that of Ayesha's father, Nishit. Tongues have been wagging ever since as to what caused Nishit to miss out on his daughter's wedding. The inside story is that Nishit was not even informed about his daughter's wedding date because he parted ways with Ayesha's mother, Faridah, six months ago.
Nobody is saying what went wrong between Faridah and Nishith, but the matter is very serious and the bitterness is there for all to see. Our source elaborated, "Else would any wife not involve her husband in their daughter's wedding? Forget about calling him, Nishit was not even informed about the wedding date."
Faridah and Nishit's relationship was on the rocks for some time and the flashpoint was reached when Nishit walked out of their Raj Classic apartment. Ever since, he has had no contact with his wife and two daughters — Ayesha and Natasha.
An insider said, "Nishit is very low profile. As a result, very few friends and relatives of the Takias are in the know about his whereabouts."
However, Nishit's absence at the wedding gave the wrong impression that he was not happy with Ayesha's choice. The source clarifies, "Ayesha has been involved with Farhan for some years now. Nishit never had any issue with the alliance."
