Tonight the best of the year in film will be honoured at the Kodak theatre in Los Angeles when the 81st annual Academy awards are handed out.
The actual awards usually take a backstage to all the glitz and glam of the red carpet.
If you're a film fan, tonight is the big night you're probably waiting for.
At this years' big Oscar bash, there'll be some very familiar and perhaps maybe some not so familiar faces to watch for in each category.
For instance, the nominees for best supporting actress.
Taraji P. Henson from The Curious Case of Benjamin Button is one of the new faces this year.
She's up against Marissa Tomay in The Wrestler.
The other nominees for best supporting actress include Amy Adams and Viola Davis for Doubt and Penelope Cruz for Vicki Christina Barcelona.
While it's true that some categories are nearly predictable, it's anybody's guess who'll take home Oscar in the best director category.
The nominees include Ron Howard for Frost/Nixon, David Fincher for The Curious Case for Benjamin Button, and Danny Boyle for Slumdog Millionaire which started the awards season as an underdog.
Now, it's the favourite and could also continue its hot streak and take home best picture as well.
Someone else everyone will have their eyes on is Mickey Rourke.
Many are predicting he'll make his comeback complete, while some think Sean Penn might steal his thunder.
660News will have all the up to the minute coverage of the Academy awards starting tonight
