Aamir Khan: Is he the hitmaker or directors?

Have you guys noticed something. Aamir Khan always gives chance to first time/lesser known directors and make them HUGE. Most of the times they fail to generate that kind of hysteria after that.

Mansoor Khan : Qayamat Se Qayamat tak. Now Mansoor Khan is almost a recluse.

Ashutosh Gowarikar: Baazi flopped. Lagaan Blockbuster. No film of his has created that big a name after that even JA. Now What's your raashee doesn't seem that interesting either.
Farhaan Akhtar: Dil Chahta Hai. A path-breaking cinema. Farhan has never made anything like that after DCH.
Mathew Mathan: Sarfarosh. What ever happened to the director?
Vikram Bhatt: Ghulam. After that nothing big.
Rakesh Om Prakash Mehra: Aks flopped. Rang De Basanti was a blockbuster with 100% positive reviews.
Muragadoss: Ghajini a blockbuster.
Any more names?
Edited to add:
Shadowkisses suggested--- Dharmesh Darshan: Raja Hindustani the biggest blockbuster of that year. Since then hits to mediocre to zilch. Now Dharmesh is making a film with TV actors.
Rajeevki Heer suggested---Kunal Kohli: Flop MDK to Superhit Fanaa and then flops.

and also Maya, have u noticed SRK always go after the directors who Amir made big
Farhan with don
aushotosh with Swadesh
and now we hear Ghajini director will have next with ssrk😉
as for the topic, i think Amir's so called "interference" works in the favor of his movies...those directors may be talented but they need the brush up, which Amir provides!

I completely agree. I always thought the same thing. How come all his movies with first time/lesser known directors become so huge?! Maybe he really ghost-directs or something.
Does anyone know when was the last time his movie flopped?

One of the movies listed above - Baazi with AG where he played the role of a cop and dressed up as a woman. That was in 1995, btw. Then there was "Mela" in 2000. Don't think he's had flops after that..
Another name for the list above -- Dharmesh Darshan, who directed "Raja Hindustani" which was one of the top grossers of the '90s, hasn't been able to direct any remotely successful movies after that.
If he does ghost-direct the movies, his ghost-direction elevates them to a completely different level.

All Bolly movies have flaws. And the ones which have authenticity are the art ones which the masses don't like to the level of blockbuster because they lack the glamour of skimpily clad females or hyped superstars or scenic/stylish overseas shooting. Even Aamir movies have flaws but as compared to the rest most of his movies are shot in India (maybe except Dil Chahta Hain or bits of Ghajini). So good on him for promoting his country in that sense. And the females who act with him are normally the simple ones so strikes some chord with normalcy. And the directors he makes hit do fail to create that magic most of the time. Aamir is not the best but cud be one of the best among Nashrudeen Shah, old Amitabh, etc etc....The best feature about Aamir is his innovative quality but to the Bolly movie standard.

Mela was done to help his flop brother get some screen space.
Baazi was actually good. I mean just like any other Bollywood film but I guess Aamir didn't know much promotion then.
Raja Hindustani and Fanaa with anyone else would have been big flops as both films are just regular Bollywood masala...overhyped.

And SRK does it so blatantly. 😕
Murgadoss now claims that he likes SRK more than Aamir or something like that. Well! Murgadoss beware! or look at the list. 😆

Wow, I never noticed this pattern....It has to be Aamir's ghost direction because I don't understand how after these new directors work with Aamir, they produce flops or disappear....I'm sure it can be a combination anything but Aamir definitely takes movies to another level that connects well with the masses.
