Hi, my boyfriend is an avid reader, and I am a complete noob in books... Want to get him a good valentine gift – a book, can anyone suggest, he prefer satirical stuff or bookers awards kinds... Hmm I am really bad at understanding his choice but want to get him something never the less.

Hey ,

My advice, don't pick up a book, especially since you don't understand his choice . Instead give him a gift voucher for a library. I remember getting one from a friend, he got me a membership to this amazing online library https://www.librarywala.com they have an extensive collection of books, so that way your boyfriend can read more than just one book :) that too, of his choice.

Of course, I'd first suggest a gift card, but if he doesn't like gift cards, I'd suggest any book by Jane Austen, as they have some satire in them, especially Emma.

^ Well, not all men will be into Jane's romantic themed novels? even though they are just simply the best.

Welcome to the forum. I personally liked Jhumpa Lahiri's Interpreter of Maladies. it's quite sarcastic, and because it's been out the price is less.

just a suggestion: try The Age of Innocence by Edith Warton
its quite amazing and its a classic that most men would enjoy--although Jane Austen is simply fantastic, i kinda know that most men don't really like her novels,
but The Age of Innocence has a man as the protagonist

if he doesn't really like romance novels,
try Crime and Punishment or the Brothers Karamazov by Flooyd Dostoevsky(not sure of the spelling)--those are also classics, but more murder/mystery

if your looking for a combination of basically everything in the world--from murder to romance--try The Moonstone by Wilkie Collins (another classic)

good luck👍🏼
