Ram Kapoor, one of the television's most talented actors, gets candid as he talks about his plans to rock the dance floor on Jhalak Dikhla Jaa and shake off his serious image in the process.
Ok, you tell me, why not take up Jhalak?
What was your wife Gautami's reaction when she came to know you're participating in a dance show?
She was the one who motivated me to do it. She says that I should change the serious image I have on TV. She told me 'enough is enough, now I want you to have fun and I want people to know who you really are'. Then I said 'okay madam' because after you're married for six years, you know that home-office ko khush rakhna padta hai warna ghar mein sone ko nahi milta toh main yehi kar raha hoon.
So, can we say that you're here to change your image?
Gautami wants the strict and stern image that I portray on TV to be done away with and people to see the actual Ram Kapoor.
How will you manage your work and home now?
Since my wife is the one who has motivated me I don't think I'll have any problem.
During your introduction on the show, you were seen as a Don-styled character. Will we be seeing you in that avatar throughout the season?
First, tell me, did you like it? Let me tell you that it was my choreographer Marischa's idea. That's why I say na, she's a darling! Jokes apart, she is my choreographer so I'll go with whatever she says.
What do you think are your strengths?
My strengths? My fat ass? No, I don't know my strengths.
Have you lost any weight since you started practicing?
Ya, I've lost 250 grams.
Catch Ram shaking a leg from February 27, every Friday at 9:00pm on Sony.
