Sanjay Gupta's mother, Nirmala Devi Gupta, passed away on Tuesday morning. Though the entire film industry turned up to pay condolence, Sanjay Dutt, his friend-turned-foe, gave the funeral a miss.
A close friend of Gupta said, "Gupta was very attached to his mother and her death was a huge blow to him. The entire film fraternity went to pay condolences to Sanjay Gupta. Even Apurva Lakhia, with whom Gupta had a major show-down recently, was there. Surprisingly, Sanjay Dutt, who was very much in town, not only chose to skip the funeral but also celebrated his first wedding anniversary by partying till the wee hours."
The friend added, "Sanjay Dutt and Sanjay Gupta shared a great friendship for 25 years. That Dutt didn't make it to the funeral is even more shocking considering the fact that Gupta's mom was very fond of Dutt; she would cook the choicest of food especially for him. However, Dutt chose to offer his condolences only via a text message."
When asked about it, Sanjay Gupta refused to comment. He said, "I don't want to talk about this."
