well, this is a difficult question for me as i rate these 2 singers number 1 for female singers...

lets analyse:

Alka:
warmth in voice
versatile
totally unique

Asha:
seductive voice
versatile
totally unique

although both are versatile, obviously alka scores in the sweet melody department, while asha scores in the seductive and dance number department.

Ofcourse Asha Bhosle.......in my opinion nobody can come close to her & Lata Mangeshkar.........they are in a league of their own.......👍🏼

hmmm.. i loved lata mangeshkar in the old slow melodious songs like oh sajna, aa jaane jaan, na jaa o mere humdum, raina beeti jaaye, tu chanda, mose chal,etc.. but whenever i listen to the peppier songs like bhagon mein bahaar hain(tho it isnt that peppy), chadthi jawani, jai jai shiva shankar, and many 70 songs i feel that asha ji should have sung it instead. The reverse never happened with me when i listened to asha singing abhi na jaao chodkar or gun guna rahe hain bhavarein, even tho lata could sing those.

just my own opinion. no offence.

I don't think u can compare legendary Asha to screechy Alka...
Asha is in a different league altogether....

I couldn't agree with you more. Alka's voice sounds so shrill at times that I have to cover my ears. I remember taking one of my cousin to hear Ashaji in the early ninetys thinking she will not like the singing (she grew up in USA and doesn't listen to Indian music) and complain. Instead she said what an intoxicating voice! Just imagine Alkaji singing; age bhi janena tu, and yeh hai reshmi zulfo ka!!
