TV Stars And Their Lunch Dabbas
In school, I could not wait till the recess to know what my mother had packed for me in my tiffin-box. Many a times, I would stealthily open my box in the middle of my period to take a peek at the contents.

Today, my curiosity extends to TV stars. Do they eat food on the sets? Order form home? And what is it that they relish?

Juhi Parmar

"I carry food from home -- subzi, roti and dal. If I feel like having something heavy or lavish, I go out and eat but during lunch it is difficult to take time off from the shooting so dal, roti, subzi is my regular routine.

"The set food has a lot of oil and masala. Hygiene is also a concern. Set food is okay with me sometimes, especially when there is something interesting; but I cannot eat set food regularly.

"When I feel like eating from outside, I usually order a Subway sandwich. For 'Kumkum', even though I insist, the production does not take money from me. But if I am shooting for anything else, I give my boy the money to get me a meal of my liking.

"My ideal lunch would be on a day when I have an off. I get up late in the morning and binge on good home-cooked food with my family and loved ones. And go back to sleep again!"

Sayantani Ghosh

"I get food from home. Either I have two small chapatis or two slices of whole-wheat bread with dal and subzi.

"The set food is too rich. When I shifted from Kolkata to Bombay, I brought a cook along and he cooks my meals.

"I'm not much of a foodie. I like to eat healthy food. I have a weakness for tandoori chicken and Indian food. I'm not much into Chinese or Continental stuff. My all time favourite is dal with chapati and salads."

Hiten Tejwani

"I sometimes carry my lunch from home. On the sets, my lunch comprises dal, sabzis, salads and a chicken or fish dish. In the evening if I can get a brown bread sandwich, I feel great; otherwise I order for dosa or an idli sambhar.

"When shooting, I also always carry protein biscuits, rusks and fruits."

Gauri Pradhan

"I try to carry a tiffin with me during shoots. My meal comprises dal, roti, sabzi, curds and lots of salad. I don't eat shooting food. I carry a lot of diet food with me so that I can munch on it when I feel hungry.

"I love a simple vegetarian meal provided it is cooked at home. I am not too fond of junk food but I love eating idlis and dosas. If I have snacked on a sandwich in the evening, I usually skip dinner and have just a bowl of soup instead."
