the way sony n udges r projecting the society as narrow-minded n backward juzz bcoz of a stupid show is horrible. deepali sayz v don allow galz 2 rule. dear gal u mite not have studied history n current affairs. v had indira gandhi as our PM. even now our president is prathiba patil n v all know manmohan singh is juzz a rubber tsamp PM wid sonia pulling the strings.

v have galz as astronuats (sunita williams, kalpana chawla), IPS officers, lawyers, doctors n wht not. juzz bcoz a gal does not win indian idol does not make us a chauvinistic society.

like prajakta said most of the viewers who vote r galz n they vote 4 boyz. n also as anu malik said regional voting is another reason. instead of blindly blaming the audience they must think of a solution 2 stop this. change the format or sumthing.

everytime javed taks as if he is the mouthpiece of women n tht our society is pushing galz down the king feels like slapping him. if sonali was not a woman the king wud have slapped her too.if india was really so narrow-minded 2day she wud b in the kitchen not on the judging seat. the king does not say in idia women have complete freedom. maybe in villages even 2day sum rituals may prevail. but our women our much free n safer whn compared 2 many other places.

I'm with you on this one king!

People need to stop presenting India as a backward society! I mean they act as if we are living in a non-democratic country whereas we have all the freedom in the world compared to a LOT of countries! If women were so backward, then there would not be so many woman auditionees on Indian Idol in the first place! As they might be 'too scared' or 'too fragile' according to Javed.
Yes, there are certain undeveloped areas where certain practises do go on but in a country of 1 billion+ what can you expect?! As far as I know, majority of these women do not have social barriers due to their gender!

Here's the deal King Maurya:

1) One cannot deny the fact that female contestants are given less votes than male contestants because the main audience are teenage girls who usually go gaga over some "hawt" guy and hence the votes. Now, I'm also a teenage girl myself, so I won't say that all teenage girls are like that, so NO comments against females, got it? 😉 Also, regionalism plays a HUGE role in voting, like it or not.

2) Secondly, voting should NOT be done based on gender as it is. If all the girls sing badly, then all of them MUST be voted off. The problem in this competition is that there are a lot more guys that are singing terribly, but its the girls that are being kicked off. Hence, the "lectures" from the judges.

3) Now the judges lectures:
- Sonali Bendre: That woman should be smacked for repeating the same thing over and over like a broken record player. I don't know who was eliminated today, but I'm pretty sure it was most definitely a girl after Sonali's drama. She would have a point if she was able to convey what she is saying properly. Now it just feels like she's bringing the guys down. Not cool. She should talk about the talents that the girl have and that should be the reason they garner votes. Not chant about 'vote for girls'.
- Javed Akhtar: I think he's just trying to please Shabana Azmi with his "I'm-a-feminist" dialogues. Now, what he's saying might even be somewhat worthy, but its most definitely not relevant. There is no female Idol not because of India's "backward" thinking, but because of the Indian Idol's limited audience. However, addressing that issue on stage would undermine the show's credibility - hence the irrelevant lectures.

Phew. 😆

well, i agree vth on that the administration of the show is going off the track to sell their product.
may b its TRP/audience/just a rough day at work n trying to defend it... not sure....
once said they made their point, twice said the emphasize, thrice n more......com'n they r making a mockery of the show n in another sense they have been trying to achieve that some or the other way n now running out of options.
they placed themselves in an embarrasing position now these judges/sony.
not sure how the winner of this particular edition of II feel at that moment......
if its a gal/guy these drama directors have given enuf for them to take away the shine of thier art being respected.... (any one knew for records sake, how many of the cds have been sold of the previous idols)....howz II2 n II3 winners doing?
may b thats what sells to the audience, drama.
for me,the contestants seems to be like puppets. just go sing n shut ur mouths, let the people around you, play , vth what? ur own singing/performance. if given a chance to talk, you were directed to speak so diplomatically covering ur own thoughts.
atleast one judge is going kool with consistency of diplomacy.......mr.khailash kher.... in a sense yes, hez doing his job, they have selected a lot of which they have to be settled whoever is the winner. n he is saving his grace a bit.
like kids, these judges r crying/ for the biz , creating the drama.....
till one point,Mr.Akthar I recollect, is advocating for 'vote to the potential contestant'......but now he too joined the bandwagon.......
all this is that judges/sony are making thier show/product degrading...

agree with you.. specially the bolded part.. guys might just be getting more votes because of this whole drama of 'vote for girls'.. seems like she'd be happy with a girl idol, does not matter about the guys.. so that will only garner more 'sympathy votes' in addition to the regular votes for guys.. in essense, backfiring the original motto resulting in even more guy votes.. does that makes sense.. 😕

Yes, it completely makes sense, pksanam. I agree with you. I also think all these talks about blaming the junta is definitely backfiring.
I am huge follower of AI too and I have never seen the judges blame the audience they way judges in II do. If they do not like the format. they should change it instead of constantly blaming the junta. How much of their ranting and ravings can we the junta take 😕

exactly. if they don like the way adience is eliminating worthy conteatants then they shud think of a way 2 solve it istead of constantly attacking the audience.😡😡😡

ps: the king can't understand why kailash is there in elimiation episodes. in the past 2 episodes if u observe he has not uttered even a word or half a word 4 tht matter. if he comes in gala episodes he can give his expert opinion istead of being a mute spectator in eliminations.
