'I can't do Mallika type of roles' 27 Dec 2008, 0000 hrs IST, AMRITA MULCHANDANI , TNN |
With replacements becoming a daily practice, Rati was offered Banoo Main Teri Dulhan to replace Divyanka Tripathi but she refused the offer. "I am not scared of replacing anybody but I don't want to take a chance." Reality shows are the flavour of the season and it isn't something that Rati also does not want to lay her hands on. "Singing is my passion. I don't want to do reality shows because everyone is doing it." She also has no qualms doing the roles of an old-aged woman. "I would love to double roles of a mother and daughter."
The good-looking actor hopes to do traditional Indian roles without the glam look. "I can't do what Mallika Sherawat is doing." Like her contemporaries, Rati is also aiming for Bollywood after working in two Telugu films. "If Sanjay Leela Bhansali or Yash Chopra makes an offer, why not?" Rati denies that she had plans early on in her career to be an actor. "I was modelling and a director noticed me. I wanted to be a business woman and pursue interior designing.
Fitness routines are not on her everyday agenda but she feels heavy workload and yoga has helped her become fitter. "I think you reduce more weight when you are not obsessed with it and enjoy your food." The typical virgo, — sensitive, emotional and short tempered, Rati is "single and ready to mingle." Ask her if she likes any guy from her show, she says, "They are like my brothers. They are younger to me, we are just buddies," she signs off."
