India is burning again after yet another ghastly terror attack. Public outrage is at an all time high. One of their immediate demands is to stop inviting Pakistan artistes and sportsmen to India.
Shekhar Suman
All Pakistani artistes should be banned forever from coming to India. After what Pakistan has done, it was a surprise that there wasn't a single civilian protest there against the terrorist attack in India. We can't go on extending our friendship to them to get bullets in return. Enough is enough. This time nobody is in the mood to forgive. We don't want to hear the name Pakistan or Pakistani forever. We can never be friends and that is final.Rajiv Nigam (Stand-up comedian)
This is something which we should have done earlier. It's sad that it always takes a terror attack for us to open our eyes to reality. This isn't just about terror attacks but one needs to look into this problem with a larger perspective. Most of the Pakistani artistes possess no talent, yet for some strange reason our channels give them preferential treatment. In the process, many of our talented Indian colleagues are sidelined. I'm still clueless as to why Rauf Lala was preferred as the winner of The Great Indian Laughter Challenge 2. I'm not against all Pakistanis, there are few good artistes. It's unfortunate that they too will be made to pay for other's follies.Shruti Seth (Anchor Comedy Circus)
I wouldn't really like to comment on it. I'm sure the Pakistani citizens too are as hurt as we are.Mahesh Bhatt
Severing all ties with Pakistan is exactly what the terrorist intended. If relationship between India and Pakistan withers then this region will slip into chaos. We need to help the civilian government of Pakistan to fight their own homegrown terror outfits. Either we both make it through this fire or we both burn in it.Khayali (Stand-up comedian)
I'm as angry as any other Indian over the Mumbai terror attack. My anger lies mainly with our politicians. Despite this attack, I don't think we should sever ties with Pakistan. Cultural and sporting exchanges help to bridge the divide. I remember the last time India and Pakistan played a cricket match at Mohali, there were about 10,000 Pakistanis who had come there. Then I had personally looked after their welfare by organising a free lunch. So, moved were they by the Indian hospitality that most of them were in tears. They admitted how wrong they were in their opinion about Indians. They promised to spread this message of peace back home in Pakistan and would urge their dear ones to change their hostile attitude towards Indians.Ahsaan Qureshi (Stand-up comedian)
Severing ties completely is not a solution but in the interim this step needs to be taken. It's important for the likes of Shakeel and Rauf Lala to go back to Pakistan and tell their people that India has given them money, fame but what is it Pakistan is giving in return to India ' terrorists slaying innocent Indian citizens. If they fail to do so then we have to term them as betrayers. Besides, even if Pakistani artistes are banned in India forever, there is simply no dearth of talent here. As it is, the Pakistani artists only resort to vulgarity. These terrorists are not only indulging in inhuman acts but they are also bringing a bad name to Islam.Aneek Dhar (Winner Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Challenge 2007)
It does hurt when we shower so much love on Pakistani artistes but their people carry out violence against us. Pakistanis are sought after by music directors and production companies in India. It will be sad if Rahat Fateh Ali Khan can't perform here.
You can't put an end to terrorism by banning Pakistani artistes in India. The only way they can be eliminated is through bullets. Every citizen should be given ammunition to guard themselves against these terrorists.Salil Ankola (cricketer-turned-actor)
The statements made by Pakistani officials where they've declared that they will not hand over any accused to India has left us with no option but to sever all ties with Pakistan. For far too long, they've been harbouring terrorists. Indo-Pak cricket matches are a great contest but there are far more important things in life than any cricket match or TV shows.
